It's not you, it's me.

Really.

I have had such a great time while I was here. I know that we didn't always get along, and sometimes the things I said made people angry, but I want you all to know that I always, always valued the new perspectives I saw through conversing on this forum.

I just feel like Hatrack is taking up too much of my time. The long hours I've spent posting to threads that, come three months will roll off the bottom of the board anyway. And I've started to get irritable in my real life when Hatrack discussions aren't going my way. I don't know why I take it so personally, but somehow I always seem to do so, and the people in my offline life are too important to me to let this forum come between us.

I may be back someday, but not anytime soon. I know you will all miss me terribly, but do try to carry on. Think of me once in a while.

I'll miss you.

Good-bye.

I'm sorry to be... rude... but.... Who are you? [Confused]

This has got to be a joke. Not well played. I therefore pronounce this thread officially dead. No one else say anything else and let it roll to the next page and so on so forth.

I guess we should just wait and see who doesn't post anymore.

That said, an anonymous goodbye seems to defeat the point.

I moreso thought it was a dramatic reproduction: Goodbyes in Summary, starring Anonymous Jatraquero

I'd say this is probably a direct reply to all the "Goodbye Hatrack" threads we've been seeing the past few days/weeks.

::glad that people didn't just start posting signatures::

I actually thought it was rather well done, but perhaps a bit TOO graceful. [Smile]

Sheesh!

I thought he'd never leave!

NOW we can have the fun we've always intended to have but he kept postponing.

I've got the kumquats-- who brought the rubber pants?

Have their been that many? I know of two, and I don't count one of them because it was more an update and a "see ya when I get back".

So who else left? I haven't been that self-absorbed lately have I?

While it may have been funny were it a joke, I think it might actually be real. If that is the case, then I am pretty sure I know who it was.

If I'm wrong, then I think it was a semi-funny joke.

I thought it was real.

So, um, whoever you are, I understand. I wish you well.

(See you when you come back. [Wink] )

AJat, I just want to say I always enjoyed your posts and will miss your contributions to the community. Hatrack won't be the same without you.

Remember that time AJat said

That's my absolute favorite of all of AJat's posts.

That made me laugh out loud.

Noemon, we usually let Bob do the retrospectives for people who leave. It's kind of his "thing." Now you go and basically just cut and paste everything he ever wrote, and what's left for Bob to do?!

I was just overcome with nostalgia, and didn't think before I posted.

I declare myself innocent by reason of sentimentality.

Make puns and scare the children, of course.

>>what's left for Bob to do?!<<

Complain about kids in his yard.

Wasn't me. You're not getting rid of ME that easily. And if I ever do leave, rest assured that it's not me, it's YOU.

And now I have "goodbye sweetheart, well, it's time to go" stuck in my head. [Grumble]

Here lies A Jatraquero. Sure, it's a name that everyone knows. AJ built up quite a following in the short time he or she posted here. Always there with a quick joke or warm shoulder, AJ became for many the gold standard of how to behave on Hatrack. Women wanted AJ and men wanted to be AJ...or perhaps it was the other way around.

But despite the fame and widespread acclaim, I don't know that most people here knew the real A Jatraquero. As AJ's closest friends, Some Guy and RandomPerson have both been lost to the ongoing exodus of generic user names, it falls to me to give a glimpse into this wonderful man...or woman...or perhaps hermaphrodite.

AJ was a simple person. S/he was offended by decimals and/or fractions. S/he once confided to me that Baskin Robbins 31 flavors was part of an Illuminati plot and that the wise protected themselves by eating ice cream only if it was chocolate or vanilla...or, for the truely enlightened, unflavored. He was a proponent of the metric system, but his ardor was somewhat cooled by an ill-fated attempt to hike from Newcastle to Innsbruck.

Due to childhood events too personal to go into here, AJ refused to pronounce the letter 'n' and would only wear clothes made by left-handed tailors. S/he was a avid outdoorsperson and was never happier than when clubbing baby harbor seals using other baby harbor seals. AJ was a gifted musician who could flawlessly reproduce a piece of music after hearing it only once. This was particularly amazing considering s/he swore that every song s/he ever heard sounded exactly like the obscure Bon Jovi song "Tokio Road". Generally, AJ would sleep somewhere between 6 and 8 hours a night.

A Jatraquero got too hungry for dinner at eight. S/he liked the theatre but would never come late. AJ never bothers with people s/he hates. That's why his/her baby is a champ.

I hope this has brought us all a little closer to our dearly departed A Jatraquero, gone from the threads, but still stuck in our heads.
