...to a duel. That's right. Tomorrow at dawn by the river - sword fight to the death. Does anyone want to be my second?

Posted by Verily the Younger (Member # 6705) on :

Isn't it traditional to let the person who was challenged select the weapon?

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I'd've chosen a sword.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

second victim?

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Alright, then aiua's still chosen a sword. It's more sportsman like. Well, I guess it depends on if it's a traditional, gentleman's (or gentlewoman's) duel, or a western duel. Because then it would be pistols at down in the middle of town.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Or high noon.

Besides, if you're really gonna do that style of duel, I think someone should be slapped with a glove. Just sayin'.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

or at least just slapped

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Nothing beats ripping a nose off. Glove slapping is no where near that.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

that seems a bit harsh, to someone you're about to kill anyway.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

But...see, the glove-slapping bit is supposed to be indicative of a civilized, gentlemanly/gentlewomanly type of conflict resolution. Outright slapping, or worse, the removal of body parts [Angst] , defeats the purpose. I mean, if you're gonna do that, then why not just have a fight club style brawl?

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Oh, no no no. There was a sword fight following that.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Has anyone ever read Chesterton's The Man Who Was Thursday??

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Depending on the glove, that can smart something fierce.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

As in, Robin Hood: Men in Tights?

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Well, sure, but it's not gonna remove any parts of the recipient's face (unless it's platemail glove or something). Plus, it's got tradition behind it.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Ok, tradition wins out. Slap (with glove) away.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

-sigh-

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

*slaps smitty, aiua, and Megan with white glove*

I challenge you to a duel!

Does that work?

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Is it silk?

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Yes, it does. [Big Grin]

I accept! I choose pistols at dawn!

Who shall be my second?

Posted by erosomniac (Member # 6834) on :

Dibs on everyone's stuff when they lose.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

I'm wanting to be the second victim, that's all I care about. I'm not a very good shot, so pistols at dawn is a perfectable acceptable way of getting shot.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

As long as we can reenact the duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr, I'm completely happy. That duel makes me crack up everytime.

And of course it's silk. That's the only way to go. Like I always say "Go silk or go...something else."

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Mal's duel on Firefly was funnier

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Only because there's no video recording of Hamilton's and Burr's duel. Although, I have to admit, Mal's duel was great as well. That is by far my favorite Firefly episode.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

*weighing being shot versus being stabbed multiple times with shallow wounds* *shrugs* whatever

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I'll be your second, Megan.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Plus, Megan chose pistols, so by default it has to be more like Hamilton's and Burr's duel. Unless we want a cowboy showdown. Those are fun.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Wait wait wait. Pistols? Are you serious?
I've changed my mind.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Well, I need a second too. Who wants the honor?

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

guess that makes me Evi's second

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Megan, I have to say I am disappointed with your choice. Swords just seems so much more...fun. But that's just me. If you want pistols, then pistols it is.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Excellent. We're all set.

I'll see YOU at dawn, Evie!

*stalks off haughtily*

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Oh, it's ON!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Which dawn are we talking about here?

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

*stalks back in*

<vizzini>Oh, have it your way.</vizzini>

*stalks back out*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

And where?

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I'd like to photograph it, if that's okay with y'all?

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Megan's stalking an awful lot

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

On top of the CLIFFS OF INSANITY! *said in most intimidating voice*

Or by the river. They always seem to happen there.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Who all is going to be wanting copies?

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

As long as she's not stalking me, I'm fine.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

which time zone is the dawn in tho? I need to know when to get up

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

I'm on the East coast, so I'll say my time zone. It makes things easier for me.

Oh, and we have to be done by 9, because I have an exam that I have to be at by 9:30

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

you might send my widow a copy.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

*stalks back in*

Well, y'all keep saying things that require responses. [Big Grin]

And I can't think of another style of walking that conveys haughtiness as well.

*stalks about the thread looking down at everyone*

*stalks out*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Are we doing breakfast?

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

eggs and pancakes sounds good. I'll cook.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Well, you could go ninja on us..

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

oooh! Breakfast!

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Yeah, let's make it a virtual, fictional dawn.

Like, in five minutes or so.

Cause I'm not getting up early tomorrow. [Big Grin]

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I'll bring napkins!

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

That's it! I challenge you to a ninja duel! YES! This is what I've always wanted to do!

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Hey, here's a thought...

Let's skip the duel and just do breakfast! Yeah! [Smile]

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

do ninjas eat breakfast?

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

And cinnamom rolls!

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I'm all for skipping the duel.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

They do now. And I still want to duel... *pouts*

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Oh, for those of you interested in a ninja duel: Tiny Plaid Ninjas!

ANY excuse to post that link. Really. [Smile]

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

I have to drive to the east coast in five minutes? that sucks.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Right! I've changed my mind!
I'll eat and you can duel!
First dibs on the cinnamon rolls!

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

*sigh* Fine. No duel. But I still want to do breakfast. Can I at least dress up as a ninja?

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

What? No duel? -cries-

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Sure, as long as you're cooking!

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

XD Great linkie.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

I'm still up for a ninja duel with anyone who wants to. But breakfast still sounds good.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

say whooozit???

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Ok, breakfast and a ninja duel.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Who's dueling now?

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Sounds good to me. So, say a ninja duel in about 5 minutes? It's dawn somewhere in the world, right?

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

do ninjas have seconds?

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Ninja's fight alone. But if you want to be my cool sensai that comes in and helps me out when things get rough, then by all means...

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Yes, five minutes.

The tiny plaid ones don't, but that doesn't mean we can't.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I dunno. They always seem to swarm, so.. no need?

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

I'm being beaten by people with faster wits and internet connections *sigh*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

They swarm. Like bees.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I feel your pain.
Hey! I got roadrunner yesterday!!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

ok, I can be your wise but drunken sensai

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Drunken sensais are always good.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

*beats everyone*

*eats breakfast*

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

people who can actually *get* high speed internet are my sworn enemies... or I envy them... or something

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Hey! No fair! We never said go. *pouts*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Ha! Not so fast! Do you see what you're eating?
Nothing at all!
I ate it already...!

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Sensei.

Just sayin'.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Meg, you ate ALL the breakfast?

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Ooo...you're right. I kant speel. [Razz]

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Meg, you ate ALL the breakfast?

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

-ninja-

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

I thought I was dueling Evie!

I didn't realize it was a breakfast ninja duel with you, aiua!

And, ninjas don't have to play fair. They're ninjas.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Wait? I was fighting?
I just got tired of waiting.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

*sigh*

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

No...I just said I ate breakfast, not that I ate ALL the breakfast.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Auia, I'll just make you breakfast.

Actually, wait. I can't. I'm dead, because SOMEBODY didn't play fair.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Evie, is there a decent breakfast place near you?

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Dang ninjas.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Alright, the duel is on now.

*does a back somersault and kicks Megan in the stomach* Ah-hah!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

*drunken cheer*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Smitty, if it helps at all, I saved you some.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Sure, come on by and we'll have some good diner breakfast. Those are always the best.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

*flies backward*

*lands*

*flips up*

*lands on feet*

*makes matrix-style "bring it" gesture*

Have at you!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Any breakfast is better than no breakfast... or instant oatmeal

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

-clicks away madly-
If only I knew how to take action shots...

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Oh, I thought it was video

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Hey! That was 300 posts! Wow!

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

*does intricate twirly moves that involve lots of hand movements*

(I don't know any names of ninja moves)

*does rapid-fire punches directed at Megan's face*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Nope, I can't afford a video camera.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Go Evie! *drunken cheer again*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Ninjas don't make all that much, surely you knew that..

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

*dodges and ducks all punches*

*twirls up and flies to the roof, pulling out magical ninja sword*

*raises non-sword hand over head and points at Evie*

Yeah, everything I know about fighting, I learned from the movies. [Big Grin]

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

oh, yeah....

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

No, but we have respect. Surely that's worth something.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Sensai says something about roof fighting being confusing, make it sound inspiring

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

-self taught ninja-

-does lotus position-

-falls over-

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

*sniff*

No one's cheering for me.

*puts up strong, stoic, ninja front*

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Ninjas probably shouldn't eat before fighting

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

-silent ninja cheer-

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

*pulls ninja sword from drunken sensei's scabbard*

*separates them into two swords*

*waves them around head in intricate figure 8*

*waits for Megan to attack*

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

I thought aiua was your second? Do I need to start cheering for both sides?

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

*attacks*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Am I?
I thought I was a lone ninja.
Cowboy ninja.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

*waits impatiently*

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

*defends herself*

*runs to the wall with Megan following closely*

*flips over Megan and lands with swords in attack position*

ah-ha!

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Can we have a quick summary?
Who's who and with whom and on which side?

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Up to you, really. [Big Grin]

I was just trying to make things more dramatic.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Cowboy Ninja?

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

I've drunken cheered for Evie a couple of times, so I'm claiming her. Plus, she apparently can cook breakfast

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

I just sort of want a room full of ninjas like in Wayne's World.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

*ducks sideways*

*runs up wall to adjoining roof*

Hey, sorry to cut and run, but I need to take care of the dogs. [Big Grin] You win!

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Yep.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

yes! My training triumphs!

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

I can't promise anything too spectacular. I can't cook breakfast and fight a ninja battle at the same time!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

well, I can impatiently wait while you ninja battle

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

I win! Yahoo!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

well, that was quicker than expected.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Alright...

*wipes of ninja sword and gives them back to smitty*

*puts on apron that says "kiss the ninja"*

*goes to work preparing breakfast*

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

I like pancakes

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

pancakes it is. I can make blueberry pancakes, plain pancakes, or, my favorite, chocolate chip pancakes.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I make wicked french toast.
It is so baaaad.. -to be said in Yoplait commercial voice-

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Silver dollar pancakes?

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

I'll go for plain, but poor aiua probably needs something to help heal his pain.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Oooo....I haven't had french toast in forever. This is exciting.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Like I said, it is so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

quote:
Silver dollar pancakes?
Wouldn't that break some teeth?

Posted by JennaDean (Member # 8816) on :

Look! Ninja Kittens!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

ok, if anyone wants biscuits and gravy, I'll start cooking

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Naw, it's not actual silver. I'm too cheap for that..

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

start up the oven smitty. And ninja kitties are amazing, although there's a little too much bouncing in that video.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I'm feeling sick. Waaay too much bouncing.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Oh, so it's like those chocolate coins you can buy at CVS? I love those...

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Dang it, that'll require something more than drunken cheering and sitting on the couch. *grumble* *stumbles towards kitchen*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Exactly! Except..pancake under the foil.
And, don't, under any circumstances, microwave them. Frying pan, always.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

chocolate coins don't go well with maple syrup

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Hey, you suggested it. I wouldn't have thought of biscuits and gravy if you hadn't said anything.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Says who? Very tasty..

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Says who?

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Well, was just trying to not be the only one not cooking. And, omelettes and B&G is all I cook, other than breakfast burittos

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

you people are sugar addicts

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

No. We're people of refined tastes.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Not a huge fan of omlettes, but breakfast burritos sound tasty.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

I agree with aiua

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

BB's are the ultimate breakfast

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Bourbon Balls! I agree!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

ninjas are an odd bunch

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Ooooh! Bourbon Balls! Don't know what that is, but it sounds good

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Naturally. It's a prerequisite.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Hey, don't diss us ninjas. We can kick your butt. Just because you're my sensei doesn't mean I won't still go all...ninja...on you.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Little balls of fudgey type substance with a bit o' bourbon. Or, if you're my 11 year old sister, a lot o' bourbon. ^o^

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

wasn't dissing at all, just commenting, and in awe of your culinary abilities.... truly the student has surpassed the master

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Well, my drunked sensei will enjoy the bourbon balls with lots of bourbon.

*laughs at idea of an 11 year old drunk*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

It's the German in us.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

*...on bourbon balls*

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Good for the complexion, they say.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Yes! Prepare the Bourbon Balls! This shall be the greatest training challenge ever!

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Training challenge? What, dueling when we're drunk? That would just be funny. Someone should make a movie out of that.

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

I was just going to start eating the Bourbon Balls, and see who loses their wicked-slick ninja balance first.... the dueling would come after

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I've got the equipment!
(I just got a raise- cowboy ninjas get Christmas bonuses!)

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

In envy of cowboy ninjas

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

That works too. Drunken ninja balancing it is.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

If this is what you want, my son, I am prepared to lead you down the path of Cowboy-Ninjahood.

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

What exactly does being a cowboy-ninja entail anyway?

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

One wobbling step at a time.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Fancy ninja stunts while riding bareback.
And we wear boots!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

What are the requirements? I have a stupid stetson I bought for my sister's stupid wedding, which then got cancelled, then re-started, w/o the stetson. Does it require a stupid stetson?

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

I'm so in! Teach me the ways of the cowboy ninja!

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

Apparently the dogs ate Megan... *taking off stupid stetson in honor of the late Meg*

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Why did you need to buy a stetson for your sister's wedding?

*is very confused*

Posted by smitty (Member # 8855) on :

She said I had to have a black stetson, since I was in the wedding party. Apparently my nice leather 'go hiking in cool parts of the country' hat wasn't good enough

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

No, just boots, my children.
First lesson: How to lasso your opponent.
Step one: Dismount.
Step two: Run quickly behind them.
Step three: Without being seen.
Step four: Slip lasso around their shoulders. Without being seen.
Step five: Run back quickly and remount. You are allowed to be seen.
Step six: Let out silent "Yahoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

Stetsons are not neccessary because they hide the cool ninja forehead wrappy thing.

Can I brandish the stupid stetson once the enemy is dead, and perhaps yell the "yahoo" or perhaps "yeehaw"?
