Undoubtedly Snagglepuss.

And Fred from Scooby-Doo.

Come on, it's fun! What cartoon characters do you want to out?

Posted by KarlEd (Member # 571) on :

Velma from Scooby-Doo has been a sort of gay-subculture icon for quite some time now.

That's not really the case with Fred. Maybe he's just metro-sexual. [Smile]

Posted by starLisa (Member # 8384) on :

Jimmy Olsen.

Posted by Beren One Hand (Member # 3403) on :

I don't know if Velma is gay, but I've always had a small crush on Linda Cardellini.

Posted by starLisa (Member # 8384) on :

Her character in Freaks and Geeks so reminded me of myself in high school. Except that I did the advanced math stuff and hung out with the slacker crowd.

Posted by DarkKnight (Member # 7536) on :

He-Man....
I don't think it gets any more obvious than him

Posted by starLisa (Member # 8384) on :

I've wondered about Ami and Yumi.

Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :

And Chip and Dale .

Posted by romanylass (Member # 6306) on :

You know, I was just speculating about Dr. Quest and Race on Sakeriver.

More proof that Tante is Jane.

Posted by Pat (Member # 879) on :

Burt and Ernie. Those two guys were flamers. Probably still are.

Posted by Megan (Member # 5290) on :

Maybe so, Pat, but they aren't cartoons. [Big Grin]

Posted by FlyingCow (Member # 2150) on :

I'd go with Snarf, from the Thundercats, and Perceptor, from Transformers.

Posted by Dagonee (Member # 5818) on :

Bert is evil.

Posted by Derrell (Member # 6062) on :

We can't forget Smithers from the Simpsons. The sad thing is that he has the hots for Mr. Burns. [Angst] [Angst] [Eek!] [Eek!]

Posted by ketchupqueen (Member # 6877) on :

I don't know if Smithers is actually "out", but I wouldn't say you ciould exactly call him closeted, either.

Posted by KarlEd (Member # 571) on :

Actually, he's the worst kind of closeted. He's pretty obviously gay, but thinks no one else knows.

Posted by GaalDornick (Member # 8880) on :

The mouse from Tom and Jerry (I'm not sure what his name is). I always feel bad for the cat and how he always loses. Poor cat.

Posted by punwit (Member # 6388) on :

As a side issue, how about drug abusers?

Coke and or speed

Quaaludes

Viagra

Posted by WntrMute (Member # 7556) on :

I have long wondered about Ace and Gary.

Posted by Dan_raven (Member # 3383) on :

The entire 70's version of Justice League all seemed a bit too friendly, if you know what I mean.

Posted by aiua (Member # 7825) on :

I read the title as "Outgoing Cartoon Characters."
This is much more exciting.

Peppermint Patty's friend Marcie was reputed to be based on Billie Jean King.

Trivia Question: What was Peppermint Patty's last name?

Posted by Boon (Member # 4646) on :

Why has no one mentioned the Smurfs? Come on, one girl to 100 guys?

Posted by Morbo (Member # 5309) on :

That doesn't mean Smurfette was gay...just very, uh, popular.

Elmer Fudd--lisp, confirmed bachelor, incompetent hunter, opera aficionado. And just the name...

Posted by SC Carver (Member # 8173) on :

I don't think he's gay, but Bugs Bunny sure likes cross dressing.

Posted by Dan_raven (Member # 3383) on :

Brainy Smurf if no other.

Then there was Artsy Smurf, and don't forget Flaming Smurf.

Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :

Although a cross-dresser, I do not think that Bugs Bunny was gay. However, I do know some men who thought that Bugs was kind of sexy when he was in drag.

I'm not sure I quite understand the relationship between Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson, but I'm getting a lesbian "Aunt Bea" kind of vibe off of Aunt Harriet.

In any event, Robin is just too young for Batman. It is kind of like a yucky NMBLA thing.

A relatively famous example, from Mark Evanier's website:

quote:
In one issue of Justice League of America in the sixties, the heroes discover they have contracted a cosmic plague that will doom everyone they've recently touched. Green Lantern shudders to think that he has infected his eternal fiancée, Carol Ferris. The Flash realizes he has doomed his beloved, Iris West. Even the Atom thinks about the fate that will befall the woman in his life, Jean Loring...

Batman, meanwhile, thinks: "Robin...what have I done to you?"

Posted by Morbo (Member # 5309) on :

Hahaha! [ROFL]

Google concensus seems to be Reichardt. I have the strip where she says her full name to some official at school *somewhere*, but I'm feeling too lazy to search through around 100 Peanuts books to find it. [Smile]

I think Kunuo Tatewaki from Ranma 1/2 isn't admitting to himself the real reason he's attracted to Ranma.

Fajita from Dragon BallZ. Sure, he gets married and has a kid, but that's all a beard.

Posted by SteveRogers (Member # 7130) on :

What about Tom Cruise, via South Park. He needs to come out of the closet.

Posted by David Bowles (Member # 1021) on :

Spongebob, Patrick and Squidward. Pretty interesting little trio, that.

The things you learn about people on Boxing Day.

*wink

*** Popeye
Evidence: Eats lots of salad. Wears a sailor suit, even though he hasn't been on a ship in years. Does little sailor-dances. Dates a flat-chested transvestite named Olive Oyl. Best friend named Wimpy.

Edit: There is also a whole section devoted to this stuff here

Edit #2: The link is to the section that I was referrring to. The entire site is hilarious though.

Vegeta? Heck no. I had the biggest crush on him in 6th grade- he was that "bad boy" that all the girls had to admit they loved. Freeza, however... come on, evil villian wearing... black lipstick?

If we're talking drugs too, how about Speedy Gonzalez?

Posted by Tante Shvester (Member # 8202) on :

Underdog had a big drug thing, what with that "super energy pill" hidden in the secret compartment of his ring.

I know that you're going to feel real "duh!" about this, but...

The mouse is Jerry.

The cat is Tom.

Posted by Vasslia Cora (Member # 7981) on :

I think hes talking about the other mouse that shows up now and there.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Oh, and the bulldog who occasionally kicks Tom's bee-hind is definitely on steroids.

Posted by Elizabeth (Member # 5218) on :

Teddy Ruxpin is both gay and on qualudes.

More like a Bear type.
