The weather/storm god was Zeus. You could make a case for it being one of the gods of the 4 winds (the Anemoi - I'd say Notus, as he was the South Wind and caused the later summer and autumn storms) too.
What happens if we experience another storm season like this one next year, and maybe the year after this, and maybe after that?

Poseidon is definitely in charge of storms that sink boats; Zeus is more your guy for individual smiting-with-lightning.

Well, New Orleans can only be taken out once. I suppose we could lose Miami next year and maybe New York or D.C. the year after that, but how many major coastal cities are there? Eventually it has to be over.

Yeah, you could make the case for Poseidon given the general maritime nature of the storms, but I don't know, I'm of the "sort if out with the top guy sort of thing".
That is to say, I think Poseidon is a puss.

Your monotheist bias is definitely showing, there. Poseidon is the top guy when it comes to storms; the bit about Zeus being the boss is just propaganda put out by his priests. I mean, come on, thhe guy can't even keep his own wife in line, what's he going to do against a brother who can whip up a storm when he feels like it? Check out the Iliad sometime and you'll see how much control the guy has over his pantheon. Even Odin does better; at least he has a common foe to rally support against.

And besides which, if we're talking about tropical storms and the like, that which affects me comes overland and falls from the sky. I'm still thinking that Zeus is my guy.
