And already, the noise of partying has been going on for hours. Firecrackers, loud music from a block or two away, drums pounding, yelling, shouting...

It's time for bed. I hope my ear plugs are up to the task. [Frown] [/party pooper]

Everyone should post here when it gets to be "New Year's" in their area.

Being the furthest east, Quid, do you get New Year's first there in Sri Lanka, or is Australia even further up the time zone than you?

14 more hours where I am...

Australia's before me.

1 hour and twenty minutes to go, and the loud music, loudspeakers, karaoke machines, and firecrackers continue in full force.

All I want is some [Sleep]

It's only 9:46 in the morning here. When the new year hits, I'll be just getting home from work. [Frown] [Frown]

Not only do we have some really really bad karaoke happening, we now have church bells going off. [Roll Eyes]

Oh, and I think I have a frog in the house. It keeps jumping past me, but when I take a closer look, it hides in the shadows.

That, and a gecko on the coffee table right where I put my hand to grab something. Urgh!

Catch the gecko, tie it to a string, and lure the frog out for a tasty snack!

Posted by quidscribis (Member # 5124) on :

Um, Hamson, the frog is about an inch long, maybe. The gecko, however, is about six.

Who, exactly, do you think will be eating who?

And, um, 7 more minutes.

And the fireworks are going like mad. Mad, I tell you! Crazy! Stark raving lunatic!

[Party] [Party] It's 2006, folks! [Party] [Party]

And the firecrackers are going wild! I hope it's not another revolution!!!!!

I have exactly 12 more hours.

That means only 6 hours until people start arriving at my house! Ack! Must clean!

(I'm really hoping those sounds I'm hearing aren't firecrackers hitting our house.)

Haha, I'm not familier with Sri-Lankan ecosystems. Happy First.

Hung around outside from 22:45, knew virtually no-one. Called a friend, he thought I was drunk, but I was just a little depressed.

Noone to kiss. Noone to be kissed by. Came back home at 23:45, had a shot of Black Bush the holy (which my brother called piss - he got a ringing slap out of my palm), hoping for a better year.

It's now 00:22.

Jon, that is about the saddest post I've seen.

Shavuah Tov and L'Shanah Tova!

Really? I've had worse ones.

But thanks! [Smile] And don't forget Chag Sameach and Chodesh Tov! You earned them. [Smile]

Well, the loneliness, the depression, the underage drinking leading to violence and dysfunctional family relations, with a small, pathetic hope for something better. It pretty much had everything.

But, you're welcome.

A tad taken out of context. [Smile]

The firecrackers continued all night, as did the guy with the loudspeaker. Church bells started ringing again at 4:30, and the Catholic church started in with their singing at about the same time. Then the Catholic priest started preaching. I can barely open my eyes. I want more sleep.... [/whine]

Merry New Years, everyone!

Don't whinge. Over here they're doing all sorts of !@#$ to the flat above, and they start at 08:00. Plus, I had to wake up at 06:00 to go to Rosh Hodesh T'filla.

@#$%! @$#%! bloody @#$%!!!

Happy New Year (from Salt Lake City)!

It is raining, but that doesn't seem to stop the noisemakers. It will probably make it short lived though.

I've actually never kissed someone on New Years, my mother included.

I didn't even know it was a tradition until they made such a huge deal about it in the first season of The O.C.

...I've been missing out, haven't I?

Happy new year! (not that it just came here, but I just found out the time to post. [Smile] )

I'm sorry, but I find this --> O_o really, really cute.

Random moment inspired by Jon.

Posted by Corwin (Member # 5705) on :

It is cute, isn't it? And there's no need for a "real" smiley, it's just perfect! [Big Grin]

I can just picture it on someone's face... [ROFL]

I'm not the originater, mind you... I learned it from Hatrack.

But thanks, I guess...

Posted by Tinros (Member # 8328) on :

Oh, I know. I've seen my friends use it before. It's almost everywhere. But you used it here, inspiring my, "hey, that's really cute" thought.
