That was fast. I am probably going to get some flac for this, but I hope USC wins. Not because I am a big USC fan, mostly I don't want Texas to get the cradit for breaking the streak.

My dad's watching the game. I've been kicked off the TV.

I have to root for Texas, if I don't, some very angry Texas relatives won't let me visit anymore, and it's too warm, and their pool too nice for me to not oblige them.

Go Texas!

They didn't review it, but the Texas guy had his knee down before he pitched the ball for the TD...

During the normal course of a season, I cheer for the Horns' opponent as much as the next person, but tonight I must say Hook 'em Horns!

I forget. Am I supposed to root against USC (as a UCLA alum), or for the SoCal team?

I'm so confused!

TEXAS WINS [Party]

I cheered for one of my school's main rivals (even if they don't consider the opposite true). So you'd have been allowed to cheer for a rival SoCal team.

But I would feel so disloyal! (And I don't actually care about football. [Wink] )

Um . . . it is football, right?

[Mad]
Darn, I am not much of a football fan but my father is a big USC fan, so I wasn't happy in those last 19 seconds [Frown]

Oh, theres always next year.

MMM, yes. aposdifjoifjisdjfsoifj. GAH! I was supposed to attend a party tonight, but I know that it will be college boys home for the holidays mourning this loss and talking smack about the refs. I'm not going. THANKS Texas, for ruining my night.

You know that if they had won, it'd just be college boys home for the holidays celebrating the victory and talking smack about the Longhorns anyway.

I thought I wasn't going to be able to see the end of the game because I had a work meeting tonight. I walked in and they were all watching the game waiting until the end to start the meeting!

Yay! Texas [Party]

Now, I did not publicly make this prediction before the season started because I was afraid I would jinx it, but Anne is my witness: I said USC would lose 1 game all year and that would be to Texas in the championship game. It was a great game.

True, but that I don't mind. I like my boys drunk and happy and challenging eachother and shotgunning beers. Not shaking their heads, sulking and watching Grease. That's not healthy masculine post-game activity. Anyway, I'm sure the Texas fans are throwing the meeean parties tonight.

Yeah. He actually said it over and over to me. And I couldn't have cared less. And he wouldn't tell anyone else for fear it would jinx it-- I guess I don't count because I couldn't care less! [Wall Bash]

Suck it, Trebek!

And by Trebek I mean USC.

Freaking awesome game. I'm so tired today, but it was so worth it. Great plays all throughout, and Vince simply would not be denied.

I'm extra happy because now all the ESPN talking heads will be forced to choke down a biiiggg plate of crow today.

I just have to add my [Party] for Texas! I'm glad KetchupPrinceConsort was rooting for the right team even though he's not in Texas anymore.

Vince was pretty awesome. I can't remember being that impressed with a QB in quite awhile.

Except Lee Corso, who picked Texas.
What a game!

Herbstreit was the main guy.

He predicted that the '97 Michigan team, with Charles Woodson, who gave up a high of 16 points that season to the nation's number one offense would be shellacked by USC 49-14. Come on now, how do you make that prediction with a straight face?

A Michigan team that beat 7 ranked teams by an average of 19 points gives up 49 to USC? Let's try to be realistic, Herbstreit.

I graduated from The University of Texas. I teach and live just outside of Austin. The last two days has just been Longhorn fever around here. Everyone has worn orange all week except for one little girl in my class who wore a USC shirt. No one will talk to her. She asked me the day of the game if I would root for USC with her. I laughed and told her I graduated from UT so I bleed orange. She looked so sad. I don't even like football really and I was riveted!

But I agree that they rushed the extra point kick after that touchdown because the UT guy's knee was down. USC was stupid for not calling a timeout and making the refs review that. They would have won.

As a Razorback it is not in my being to pull for Texas. Ever.

However, USC was kinda full of themselves so I'm glad they lost... and a team from The South won... I just wish it had been someone other than Texas.

Who picked "Burnt Orange" for a team colour anyway?

No they wouldn't have. Neither team was stopping the other, especially in the red zone. It's ludicrous to think they wouldn't have scored in the next play or two.

IMO, anyway.

Posted by The Pixiest (Member # 1863) on :

Yeah, Texas won fair and square. And they didn't even need The Eyes of Texas (the officials) to win.

Posted by MandyM (Member # 8375) on :

They won fair and square because as long as they start the next play, the TD was good. All I was saying is that USC was stupid to not call a time out to review it. But Spang is right; they probably would have scored right after that anyway.

Posted by aspectre (Member # 2222) on :

And probably hit the extra point, which Texas blew essentially because they were too much in a hurry to speed past the point where the officials could override their bad touchdown call.
Of course, another play or two would have taken a minimum of 20seconds off the clock: the clock wouldn't have stopped after the tackle. Which means Texas wouldn't have scored their last touch down, and USC would have won.
Or not.

I'm glad USC lost... the hype was ridiculous, and if there's one thing I really hate, its over hype. USC has played against... zero good defences? in the last two years? Maybe 1? Put them up against some of those FSU or Michigan dominating defences, let them try to play against one of the Ron Dayne wisconsin rose bowl teams, or frankly any other team with a great big bruiser for a running back and an offensive line averaging 300 lbs, and they'd NEVER have the ball. Bush can't score if he doesn't get a chance to run. Or that 1997 michigan team previously mentioned... Leinart would have thrown for 100 yards against that team. Or the FSU teams... Bush would have been swarmed at the line of scrimmage.

USC is a good team, but best ever? You don't know that. More importantly, they don't have a defence. I'm not sure how you put a team that is only good on one side of the ball as best team ever.

Idiots.

But I HATE that texas won.
