It has been a while since I did any reseach on Peak Oil. As we progress through 2006, we are comming closer to the year range some people thing predict we will enter the Peak--2008-2012.

I stopped reading up on Peak Oil because I started to think that there is an abiotic source of oil.

Today I found an article from Sept 18th, 2005 in The Telegraphin the UK.
quote:
An extraordinary blueprint being studied by the Deputy Prime Minister suggests conserving energy by monitoring the habits of home owners in the same way that air raid wardens made people turn off their lights during the Blitz.

Householders will also be forced to conduct an "annual energy audit" of their homes, defending the amount of fuel they have consumed.

The spectre of a force of "green police" is painted in a study warning that Britain risks catastrophe if it remains dependent on Middle East oil and urging a rapid shift to renewable energy and conservation.

Whether you believe in Peak Oil or not, or whether we will be able to switch to a renewable source of energy in time, I feel Green Police and government control of our energy consumption may be close to the US.

I have to stop and ask myself how much morld events and terrorism are tied to energy. Russia, China, and India seem to be becomming bed-buddies. Where does this leave America these next few years?
