My flight back up to school in Seattle from Hawaii got cancelled because of engine-explodey (just kidding bout the splodey part). Downside: missed three days of school and spent hours on the phone playing tag with Northwest Airlines automated "voice-recognition" phone system. Here's a sample:

Northwest: I'm sorry, I have no information for that flight. If you'd like to speak to a customer care representative, please say "agent."
Me: Agent.
NW: I'm sorry, I didn't understand-
Me: Agent!
NW: My mistake. Please repeat-
Me: AGENT!!!
NW: You've indicated that you would like to speak to an agent. Please be aware that I can provide the flight information you require. If you're sure you'd like to speak to one of our customer care representatives, please say "yes."
Me: Yes.
NW: I'm sorry, I didn't und-
me: AAAAGEEEEENNNNNT!!!!
NW: My mistake.

On the upside though, two extra days in Hawaii with free hotel!

I've learned that on several of those evil voice rec auto-attendant systems, if you say absolutely nothing at all through 3 prompts, it will finally transfer you to a human being. At last, a valid reason for a mute button!

I speak from the background of having worked as a pigeon wrangler in a learning lab for about a year and a half when I say that, without exception, pigeons are filthy, nasty, evil, ungrateful little brutes against whom there is no such thing as needless violence. As such, I salute A.V. Jones and his work.

I made some three layer brownies with normal fudgy brownie on the bottom. On top of that, I mixed equal parts of Marshmallow Fluff and crunchy peanut butter. When mixed together, they turn into peanut nougat. That got spread on top of the fudgy brownie. On top of that, I poured a melted up mixture of bittersweet chocolate, margarine, and peanut butter, which melts into a thick syrup, but cools into a thick fudge, which is scrumptious on its own, but is heaven as the third layer on the brownie.

The people swooned!

You know, I bet if I tallied up all the chick posts on this forum, I think 50% would be about food, 25% would be about babies, 10% would be about clothes, and 5% everything else. It's really amazing. It's kind of like the center around which Hatrack revolves.

I think you have to give crafts at least 15%.

I present my revised version of Storm Saxon's classic work:

Food: 35%
Babies: 25%
Crafts: 15%
Clothes: 10%
Everything else: 5%

Speaking of which I started on my afghan today. I got all the yarn I needed for fifteen dollars, it was great. Also, JoAnn Fabrics has a sale on most Lion's Brand yarns and various other brands until the 12th. If anyone's starting a project now is a good time to go.

Maybe clothes and crafts could be combined. You know, "I bought great fabric at JoAnn Fabrics to make myself a new sarong."

I really think food's got to stay up there at almost 50%.
