Why does it say "Member" below each user's name in any thread? right below that it says "Member#..." and i understand that part. dont you have to be a member to even post a reply? so why show that the person is just a Member?

My guess is that the ultimatebb platform that this forum is built on allows for guests (which hatrack does not), as well as admins and mods(which hatrack does).

So there are three things it can say besides "member".

When you first start, I don't know for how long, you're listed as a new member.

Some forums also have other titles, like on Sakeriver, it's the same idea.

I'm reasonably sure its after 5 posts the New Member status gives way to Member. I'm not 100% positive, but I seem to remember it that way.
