So, yesterday, I am reading one of my threads, only to discover that people have come to think we are all the person. Well, people I can assure that we are not the same person, in any way, shape or form.

I am curious however, why did people think of this? Who else does everyone think everyone ese is?

That is, if you think two people are the same, this will be the official thread to say it.

My newbie-ish question: Because our IP addresses are logged, isn't it easy to tell if people are (or are not) the same person?

That's just what I'd expect an Australian to say. Here's proof:

Of course underground Australian resistance movements would form. Beer would be drunk. I'm not sure what else would happen, but beer would most assuredly be drunk.

I guess it would be good for improving the US's swimming medals at the Summer Games though. (;p)

I hesitate to bother posting in this thread, since it's only a matter of time until it's deleted, but my answer to your question in the other thread was "not necessarily". If Advent and Reticulum are both students at the same middle school, and the school's network is set up so that it uses a proxy server, both of them would show up in Hatrack's logs as having the same IP address--the proxy server's external address.

Alternatively, if a person were careful to, say, post under persona A from the library and persona B from home, there would be different IP addresses for both identities.

You all sound alike, as if you all have brains from the same mold. It kind of makes me think you aren't the same person, because then there might be an attempt to sound different for each persona. Instead, there is a specific standard of behavior and thinking for your group of friends, which you all adhere to religiously, because to do otherwise would condemn you to loneliness.

And that 'no offense', with the smiley! I'm devastated! My grammar is not superb, but then again I don't go shrieking in all CAPS OMG STOP BUSTING ON GRAMMAR THAT'S SO OUT OF LINE JUST ACCEPT IT AND MOVE ON OMGOMGLOLLERCOPTER!

Here's the thing, Reticulum. No one cares whether you, Cheiros, Bando, Advent, and the rest of the Class of 2008 or whatever, are the same person. Most people just wish you'd quit freaking yapping all the darn time about nothing.

Oh, and for the record, I'm still right. Your adolescent, "It's an Internet message board, man, I can say what I want!" response is overdone and typical of an ignorant middle-schooler.

No one was trying to take your freedom to project every little vapid thought that pops across your brain onto an unwilling and irritated public. Your freedom of speech is not at issue here. It's the quality and sleep-inducing traits of your speech that is at issue here. [Smile]

Edit: Oh, and by the way? Offense intended. None of that adolescent sarcasm, I intend to offend. Maybe when you get older you can get a driver's license and drive over to my house and kick my butt.

You were the one who was whining in ALL CAPS about people criticizing the grammar of other people (and then you criticize me of exactly that-and I don't think you were joking).

You're the one whose posts are so often responded to with irony. Your whining about your unthreatened freedom was and still is adolescent.

So...yeah. I was 'immature'. Maybe it's because I finally got tired of seeing your name up on the board and reading...nothing. I finally commented, that's all. I speak only for myself: I still think you're a middle-schooler, your grammar and spelling is still awful, your complaint about freedom was stupid, and no one really cares whether or not you, Cheiros, Bando, and Advent are the same person-so it's not funny anyway.

Well, Rakeesh, it seems you are most worked up about my freedom "rant". This seems to be your biggest point. I simply posted one sentence, that in my own opinion, did not say many of the things you so accused. I simply said, I have the right to post what I feel.

You too have the right to complain about me, and my nonsensical, unimportant, useless, dumb posts. You could simply ignore them, and not read them; but then, by suggesting this, I contradict myself, as I could have simply ignored all of the comments on grammar.

"I still think you're a middle-schooler, your grammar and spelling is still awful,"

While yes, I do not have the greatest grammar the world has ever seen, I still believe the word "is" should be replaced with "are", in this sentence.

The first part consists of one of the only video games ever to have OSC involved, and the second is from Halo's Master Chief's number (117) minus 2. Just something I didwithout really thinking about it.

So fitting that this thread has wound up being another one where Advent, Reticulum, and Dr. Strangelove prattle at each other.

*sigh*. I'm not prattling, I'm being friendly to someone who was friendly to me. Though I suppose you're right, Bob, and I should only post when I have something wonderfully enlightening to say.

Be quite you snake (i.e. Lawyer).

This type of thread is the reason I consider the quick reply box to be my sworn enemy.

Well, it'll probably make people think more of you [Wink] But then, that probably goes for all of us.

But no, I'm not trying to tell you how to enjoy your time here. If this is what floats your boat, by all means, float on, Brother! You know I think it's insipid, which makes the pressure behind my eyes go away, and you have fun. We all win.

Mmm. I probably just go myself in trouble with that last one. Normally I just gloss over these threads and practice a strict policy of ignoring them, but I'm feeling curmudeonly. Never fear, I'll go back to my old ways shortly (which, I'm sure, will be the advice offered to me by other posters).

I'm glad you understood what I meant without an explanation Bob. It was easier to practice self-restraint when I had to go to a whole other page to vent my rage.

Advent, considering your age differences, why are you so set on IMing with Reticulum all the time?

Posted by Grim (Member # 9165) on :

Because I rule. [Taunt]

Posted by clod (Member # 9084) on :

indeed?!

Well, I reckon you do rule.

Posted by Reticulum (Member # 8776) on :

Why thank you clod, I reckon I do. I reckon I do...

Posted by Advent 115 (Member # 8914) on :

Hmmm, he asks a good question. Why do I talk to to you Reticulum?

Posted by Reticulum (Member # 8776) on :

Because I rule. I already answered that.

Posted by Advent 115 (Member # 8914) on :

Need better than that.

Posted by Reticulum (Member # 8776) on :

Then you must answer it. Many years, it may take.

I should bring back my Yoda thread. What do you think?

Posted by Advent 115 (Member # 8914) on :

No.

Posted by Reticulum (Member # 8776) on :

Why not? It was awesome!

For the record: This is vapid.

Now the main personality is complaining of being tired and is threatening to send us all to purgatory, er sleep. [Roll Eyes]
