My poor little puppy. Yesterday, when I got home, I decided to give Indie a bath. When I was drying her I noticed the skin around her eye looked a little funny. Over the next couple hours, it started to get worse. I had to give her Benadryl when the skin around her eyes and her muzzle became more swollen (I called the vet for the proper dose). I woke myself up over night to check on her to make sure it wasn't getting any worse and closing off her airway. She looked ok last night, but the skin around her eyes this morning is swollen a little bit again. I just gave her another dose of Benadryl. [Frown]

I have no clue what she got into. It is only her face that is swollen. As far as I can remember, she had nothing new. Nothing else appears to be wrong with her. She is still as goofy as ever. I hope everything is ok by tonight because she starts her first puppy class and I am so excited about it.

I used shampoo that she has had before. I don't think that is what did it but I have no clue. However, I realize now that I am going to have to switch to something for dry skin. Any suggestions on something for dogs with sensitive skin...just in case it was the shampoo?

People Shampoo?

I've got it! Your dog is allergic to your roommate's cat, and it is experiencing the same exact symptom of that allergic reaction as I always do.

As for what to do for sensitive skin, until this moment I was unaware that dogs could have sensitive skin (shows what I know), so I am afraid I have no suggestions.

They make ultra-gentle hypo-allergenic shampoo for pets, often with oatmeal in it.
