Hello all,

I'm a huge fan of Orson Scott Card's books, stories, and essays. I'm finishing up my studies in Chicago, and I love reading, languages, travel, and finding new ways to procrastinate online.

This looks like a great board and I am excited to have finally joined it. :-)

I didn't know it was possible to study Chicago. Can you get an advanced degree in that?

Chicago! Wow! I really liked the musical. Is the town much like it?

Welcome aboard and have a great time. I know I always do. [Wave]

Welcome to the board, Kristen! We've got a sizable contingent in Chicago, so if you're interested in meeting people in real life you should have plenty of opportunities to do so.

Thanks for the welcomes, everyone!

Reticulum--Useless debates about nothing? Even better than I expected!

Bob-We actually do have a few classes at my university on Chicago, but I still think it would get lumped into a history degree. Alas, my school is not progressive enough to have a 'design-your-own degree' program.

Tante-Believe it or not, I haven't seen the movie. And Chicago is not a town, but a city, and in my opinion, the best in the country. It's clean, bustling, has great restaurants, lots o' local culture, noted architecture, awesome museums, fascinating history, lively nightlife...yes, I do love the Windy City. You should make a point of visiting it sometime (but not during the winter!).

Noemon--Excellent to know. Now we all have to work on figuring out a way to schedule Mr. Card's next signing in Chicago. He missed the Midwest last time around *sob*.

From what I've heard about Chicago, it is the hog butcher for the world, tool maker, stacker of wheat, player with railroads, and the nation's freight handler. Not to mention stormy, husky, brawling, city of the big shoulders.
