I just heard from some of my old Babylon 5 geek friends from college...

This has been quite a week for deaths.

Thank you for letting us know.

Tomalak!

[Frown]

(And technically, this was two weeks ago. But yes, a bad month. Including a couple RL people I knew. [Frown] [Frown] [Frown] )

They say these things happen in threes. Butler and Katsulas make two, so expect one more death in the world of sci-fi...

OMG the Bab5 cast are dying young... First Dr Franklin, now G'Kar =(

And with Octavia Butler dying earlier this week.... This is all so very sad =(

There are several of Don Knotts' films that could be classified as (light) science fiction.

Dr. Franklin died? I didn't know that. He must've been quite young. Andreas Katsulas was a fine actor, too. To be so expressive under all that latex is a real gift. This has been a bad month or so. [Frown]

I heard this two weeks ago on another board, and didn't think to post it here. Ah well, I'll post the two best pieces here from that thread:

JMS's Farewell

And a fitting G'Kar quote (as only Andreas Katsulas could deliver):

quote:
"I believe that when we leave a place a part of it goes with us and part of us remains. Go anywhere in these halls, when it is quiet and just listen. After a while you will hear the echoes of all of our conversations, every thought and word we've exchanged. Long after we are gone, our voices will linger in these walls for as long as this place remains. But I will admit that the part of me that going will very much miss the part of you that is staying."

NOOOOOOOOO! I hate Paramount!!! I hate them I hate them I hate them! I'll never be able to see G'Kar ever again and its all Paramounts fault!

quote:
G'Kar: The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.
quote:
G'Kar: It is said that the future is always born in pain. The history of war is the history of pain. If we are wise, what is born of that pain matures into the promise of a better world, because we learn that we can no longer afford the mistakes of the past.
A few of my favorites. [Frown]

G'Kar as I think of it was my favorite "Churchill type" of character, though my favorite one overal was Londo, then G'Kar, then Sheridan.

What do you mean by "Churchill type"?

The relationship between G'Kar and Londo was one of my very favorite parts of the entire series.

I liked Londo best. But G'kar was pretty cool.

Someone who makes speeches. ^^

But ya. I hate paramount for almost killing Babylon 5 and for killing Crusades the Bab5 spinoff.

And now it will never come to pass [Frown]

Paramount probably DOES suck, but they didn't give Katsulas lung cancer; from JMS's post, it sounds like Katsulas did that himself. [Frown]

And how are we supposed to have a Bab5 movie when the cast keeps dying? Firefly got a movie, Bab5 needs one soon.

Its called "Call to Arms" its the prequel to the Crusader spin off series. There also a few more.
