One does not simply walk into Wal-Mart, there is an evil there that does not sleep.

Please, all pop culture, mixed with society puns. I feel the need to collect things not worth collecting.

For the uninformed, that is a pun off of LOTR FOTR

(How is that a pun? [Confused] )

Yeah, I'd call that more spoof, satire, or "send up" rather than a "pun."

And you would know, Bob.

I don't know, I thought what he said had a certain ring to it.

It's a pun because Wal-Marts have a greater number of entrances and exits than any other store.

I would be ok with this(and if you didn't say it was a pun), if you got the quote right.

Ni!

First rule of humor: If your joke needs explaining right from the start, it's probably not funny. [Dont Know]

[Wink]

I didn't need explaining and found it rather humorous.

Well, frankly I didn't need it explained, either, but Shepherd obviously felt it did. The tacked-on explanation kinda killed the funny for me. (Or rather, it made it funny for an entirely different and presumably unintended reason.) [Smile]

I might have found it funny if it wasn't over-done walmart bashing. Or starbucks bashing.

Bash united airlines or walgreens for a while. both those things deserve it. (especially united airlines.)

Or Home Depot. Every hardware store (there are five, not counting HD) in my town has in the last five years had a Home Depot put next to it.

I always attract the more 'interesting' people at Walmart. Once in Idaho my brother, wife, and I walked into a Walmart. Now we have a pretty conservative appearance. My brother and I both had short, neat hair, no facial hair, and were wearing jeans and a t-shirt. As we're walking by Gardening, this old man wobbles up, kind of pauses, taps my brother on the chest, looks up at him and says, "You're trouble." He then hobbles on and sees me. He pauses again and taps me on the chest and says, "You're bigger trouble." He then just walks off.

The second time was here in Nevada. My wife and I were headed to a company Christmas party on a Friday night. We were in Wal-Mart looking for some holiday plates for our home-made toffee. We split up, since we were in quite a rush.

As I went around the corner of one aisle, a short someone shriveled old lady blocked my way. I mummered a "Pardon me," and attempted to move around her. She indicated that she wanted my attention by moving to block my way again and making eye contact. I thought, well, maybe she wants me to help get her something from the top shelf. I'm 6'3 and get that a lot whatever store I'm in. As I looked inquiringly at her she said, "Ask me what shift I work!" Looking at her slightly disheveled appearance, major dental problems, and strange look in her eye, I thought I better pretend I didn't hear and move on.

She shuffled across my path again and repeated, "Ask me what shift I work!" By this time I was thinking, okay, she's probably not quite all there, but maybe she works on Christmas or something and wants a sympathetic ear. I guess I should take the time to listen to her.

I looked at her and said, "What shift do you work?" She laughed and replied, " I don't work. I'm shiftless!" Another cackle. "I make jokes up and tell them to people." Then she walked off, still laughing. I'm sure it brightened both our days.

So I don't know about an evil residing in Wal-Mart, but there does appear to be a strangeness.
