I joined Hatrack a long time ago, but have been inactive for many years. My sister keeps telling me I should become an active member again so here I am.
I grew up in Texas, went to college in Hawaii where I graduated with a psychology degree, and went back to Texas to be close to my family. I've worked as a public school teacher (didn't go well), and as a preschool and daycare teacher. I am currently a SAHM to a 6 month old little girl named Jovi. I enjoy reading, sewing, cooking, board games, spending time with my husband and playing with my baby. I am currently very active in the cloth diapering community (my baby has been cloth diapered since birth) and volunteer with two nonprofits that deal with cloth diapers.
My two favorite TV shows are Battlestar Galactica and Lost, my gulity pleasure is People's Court type shows
Books I am currently reading, The Two Income Trap by: Elizabeth Warren and Amelia Warren Tyagi and Parable of the Talents by Octavia Butler (recomended by my sister)
I hope I can add something to this community and have fun being part of it.

Two things:
1) Welcome.
2) West Virginia is going to beat Texas this Friday or whenever they play.
Ok, one more thing:
1) Hang out for awhile. Most of us here are pretty cool.
Edit:
By the way, who is your sister?

Welcome! What college did you attend in Hawaii? I assume it was on Oahu, no?
I find it interesting that there is a "cloth diapering community" to be active in.... I used cloth diapers for my children back in the day, but there most certainly wasn't a community. Can you let us know a little more about what it means?

Welcome to the 'rack officially! (Even though you've been here longer than me.)

Hi, Rien. Your screen name means nothing to me.

Hey, I'm with hansenj. I'm supposed to welcome YOU? Eh. I'll do it anyway to be friendly, but really, I'm the newb compared to you.
Welcome!

You got it! I always thought it would be a really pretty name for a girl, but kinda mean to name their child nothing, yk.

Hey! It is so fun when people you know in RL are Hatrackers as well. I should know.

Welcome back.
All three of my kids (as well as all my mother's kids) were diapered with cloth, but I didn't know there was a "community" to be "active" in!

No, not really. I just thought I would inform you though.

Hi Rico. Thank you for the warm welcome everyone.

Welcome! I'm also a SAHM who has worked as a preschool and daycare teacher, as well as in other fields in education. My little girl Aerin is also 6 months old, but she was born 3 months early.
How are you liking The Two Income Trap? It sounds like something I'd like.
I use disposables, though. Sorry.

[/nitpick] Sorry.

Oh, and welcome--from someone who hasn't been around as long!

Mrs. M this is actually my second time around to read The Two Income Trap, I read it really fast the first time. I'm rereading so I remember it better. I found it VERY informative. I think anyone with a family or planning a family in the future and wanting to be financially secure should read it. I don't agree with all their solutions, but it really made me think.

If you go to a place, leave it for five years, and then come back, have you really been around for a long time?

You get to cop whichever attitude you prefer at any given moment. I once went to work for a school I had attended as a kid. It didn't matter that I left in third grade, and hadn't been back to visit in over fifteen years, I copped the whole "I've been a part of this school forever" attitude . . .

LOL! Good point!

Hooray! Another Galactica fan comes out of the woodwork!
Glad to see you around again
