I think I have a sleep disorder, but it's something I've just recently developed in the last couple weeks.

The other day I went to bed early, around 1am, and slept for a good four hours or so, then forced myself to go back to sleep and could only stay asleep for like 45 or 90 minute increments until I eventually had to get up for work. When I got home from work later in the day, I was so tired I went straight to bed at 5pm, and stayed asleep until midnight, waking up a couple times during my extended nap.

And then the next day was even worse, I was tired the whole day and so on. Tonight, I got home from work at 11 or so, and went to sleep at midnight, woke up at 4, then slept in fits and starts until 7 and just gave up and stayed awake. I have no idea how to get my sleep pattern back on track. Usually I'd just wake up really early, stay awake all day and night, and then the next day I'd go to bed at a regular time and sleep for 8 or 9 hours and I'd be find.

Anyone have any ideas? Anyone have a similar issue, or do we have any medical folk on Hatrack who can offer some advice?

I'm not medical.

As we age, our sleep patterns change. If you are "run down" you could be seeing the effects of that in your sleep patterns.

You might want to get checked out by your regular doc. Maybe get a prescription for Ambien if your doctor just wants to see what effect getting a few good night's sleep will be.

Good luck...
