is now known as Uncle krynn!!! yesterday my brother and his fiance gave birth to a beautiful baby boy in NC. he is the first among the 3 of us (my sister being the oldest) to become a parent. he called everyone around 8:30 in the morning yesterday and told us that he was taking his fiance to the hospital. the baby was born around 6pm. everything went really well and the baby weighed in around 7.5 pounds.

Blayne, it depends a lot on if it is premature or not.
The smaller the baby is the more likely it is to have problems, although a lot of smaller babies make it through fine . . .a lot more these days compared to even 15 years ago, to be honest.

Anything between 5 and 10 lbs. is considered in the "normal" range (depending, as stated above, on whether the baby is premature or post-due, how big the parents are, etc., etc.) Smaller or larger than that is considered an indicator of possible problems that have to be watched out for.
7.5 is right in the middle, just about average, especially for a first birth (especially if it's a boy), and an extremely healthy weight. Although, us women want to know how many ounces exactly. Some of us women would also point out that the father did not give birth-- the mother gave birth, the father had a baby, maybe, or better, became a father.
Congratulations, Krynn. I'm glad the baby is healthy and the family is doing well.

hmm, i like to say "they" had a child because it was something that both of them discussed, agreed upon, and worked towards. i think my brother would have still wanted a child even if it were him giving birth and not her. i think the exact weight was 7 pounds and 1 ounce.

ok, anyway.
my parents drove up to NC yesterday to visit them. they were allowed to leave around 9pm last night and go home with the baby. i dont know what their nursery looks like or even what their house looks like. but my mom said she was taking lots of pictures. of everything. lol, she specifically wanted to see my brother's garden.
