Especially if you don't believe in declawing.

I'm going to my parents for a week and they don't want the cat scratching up all of their stuff so I went to petsmart to see what could be done. These glue on to your cats claws and they'll fall off when the cat sheds his claws in 4-8 weeks. If they get too long they can be clipped with ordinary clippers.

If he adjusts well, I may have him wear them all the time. (Cause I'm tired of him clawing up my stuff too.) [Smile]

I used those with my cat for a while. Cutting her claws and then gluing on these rubber nubs was a two person job, however, so it isn't really practical for me these days.

I did it tonight all by myself. I admit it was a struggle at times but I think next time I will wait until he's sleeping. That's usually the best way.

I'm guessing while putting them on, you get scratched, alot.

My cat bites me when I mess with her paws, I hate to think what would happen if I had glue in my hands too... [Angst]

Ha, ha, ha. We have to sedate our cat to trim his nails...

I've actually found that the corrugated cardboard scratching thingies keep our cat from even trying to scratch the furniture. Totally. She LOVES those things, with or without catnip incentive. They cost somewhere between 5 and 10 bucks, last for a long time, and the cats seem to find them far more effective than anything else in the house so they just don't bother with, say, a couch or curtains.
