Does anybody here think Sarah Silverman is funny? I rented her Jesus is Magic comedy routine movie this weekend, and I think I actually laughed maybe once or twice. Mostly her jokes stayed at the level of "mildly droll." And despite being full of obscenity, her material was probably less shocking to me than a random South Park episode. And I'm probably overrating her because she's so cute ...

(PS: I posted this topic yesterday but wound up double-posting it by accident and then not being able to delete it; I see the moderator did (thanks).)

I've found her to be very funny in the past. I watched her on Comedy Central for some show, and she disappointed me.

I'm gonna rent the Jesus Is Magic show, I heard some excerps from it and it cracked me up.

I've seen some of her stuff that's awesome.

I've had Jesus is Magic saved on Netflix, pending release, for ages. I didn't realize that it was available now.

::heads to Netflix to bump it up in his queue::

She is awfully cute. But the shock stuff... I've seen it done better and funnier. There's a comedienne named Lisa Lampanelli, who makes Don Rickles seem like a great big teddy bear, but she's funny. Sarah... I mean, the first joke I remember from her is something like:

"I was raped." pause "By my doctor." pause "And that's a really bittersweet experience for a Jewish girl."

See, now, that gets a quick laugh for the shock value, but it doesn't get sustained.

I think her comedy is more surreal than funny. But I kind of like surreal, sometimes (depends on my mood), and like Pix said, she's hot.

I love Sarah Silverman(I haven't seen Jesus is Magic yet). Always have, since she was on Saturday Night Live way back when. I think she's hilarious, and hot of course.

I find this interesting, because I always thought I was in the minority when I thought she was very attractive...

I just saw JESUS IS MAGIC.. and found it refreshing and funny in most parts. I laughed despite the fact that I felt I shouldn't or wouldn't normally.

I like her humor when it is satiric, makes social commentary, or mocks the oddities of human interaction.

The bathroom/bodily fluid jokes, I don't find funny, but I never do. I guess I got over them years ago.

I like Sarah Silverman, saw Jesus is Magic in the theater and loved it. She also had one of the better bits in The Aristocrats. On the cuteness front, I've had a bit of a crush on her since Mr Show with Bob & David ("We're Earthlings, let's blow up Earth things!")

I've had a bit of a crush on her since I first saw her. I think she's very cute, and I also think she's really funny. I always liked her on the Colin Quinn show, a hell of a lot more than Colin anyway. Not that that was ever a hard mark to hit [Wink] .

Some of her stuff is funny, but I find her very off-putting. She seems mean-spirited and I don't like that she dated a married man.

Is it me or are a lot of female comedians getting more and more graphic? I used to love Margaret Cho, but she's getting too vulgar for me.

I thought Sarah Silverman was cute and hilarious until I read about how much of a headcase/nymphomaniac she was.

Now I want to marry her.

Wait, when in her standup career was Margaret Cho ever NOT vulgar?

I think she's hysterical. She has a way of setting up her punchlines so that you never see them coming. Or, rather, you know that there's a punchline coming, but are completely blindsided by the direction it comes from. If most comedians are "fake left, shoot right," she's "fake left, drop an anvil from out of hyperspace."

I haven't yet seen Jesus Is Magic, but I've been looking forward to it. I loved her in The Aristocrats. (And, yes, count me in among those who have a crush on her.)

Ero, I don't think she said Margaret Cho was ever not vulgar, just less vulgar.

Yeah Cho used to not be so insanely 100% graphic all the time, and I thought she was funny back then.

Then I saw Notorius CHO and turned it off about 15 minutes in.

Notorious CHO was absolutely horrendous. I saw the whole thing because my partner likes Margaret Cho. But... <shudder> Never again.

Silverman is reasonably funny, and I think that Tina Fey is more physically attractive, but there is something about Sarah Silverman that makes me think that she would be the coolest girlfriend ever. Strike that. I want to be her friend/ guy she flirts with when she is single, between boyfriends.
