For the bedtime stories thread I googled Where the Wild Things Are to find a link to a site about the book and I got a link to... GASP! ...a Where the Wild Things Are movie coming out in 2008! Did you know about this?

This site mentions that it was going to be CGI, but that it will now be live action. How are they going to pull that off? I have absolutely loved this book for as long as my memory will take me back and will be very upset if it is done poorly.

So, any thoughts? Is this a good or bad thing? Is the new trend in movie making going to be remaking kids books into feature movies? What's next a movie based on Tikki-Tikki-Timbo?

Interesting. I used to love this book when I was a kid, it's kind of neat to hear that they are making a movie out of it. Thanks you the link.

The working title must have been "Where the Money Is"

I'm not sure I like that idea. I feel like the book leaves so much to the imagination.

Maybe they'll just make the party scene last for 90 minutes?

Edit: Also, it looks like the original author will have some influence on the movie, as his production company is co-producing it. So maybe some of the creativity and imagination that made the book great will come through in the movie. Apparently, he started the production company years ago with the full intent of it making the book into a movie.

I imagine they won't do a live action In the Night Kitchen.

I can't wait until Goodnight Moon comes out on the bigscreen.

There's no way to capture the essence of Goodnight Moon with anything less than 3D IMax.
