Well, no. But, if I ever meet up with him, I am definitely going to pull the mask of the old Lone Ranger*.

*But not the younger, current Lone Ranger, because, you know, he's armed and his reaction time is still pretty good.

I had the weirdest Superman dream last night. You know how Supe is always rescuing Lois, and they have this sexual tension between them? Well, in my dream, Jimmy Olsen and Superman also have that same kind of latent smoldering, and Jimmy kept putting himself in harm's way in order to garner some attention from Superman, who would, of course, rescue him. Jimmy would kind of melt into Supe's strong arms, a la Lois Lane. What was unspoken between the two of them was communicated quite clearly in their eyes. This bizarre triangle caused jealous tension between Lois and Jimmy, but they never said anything (because they didn't want Superman to overhear); they just shot daggers with their eyes.

I also had a very strange dream about Abe Lincoln on a train, but that's a whole different story. I have lots and lots of dreams. Going to bed, for me, is like going to the movies every night.

Tante, very interesting.

(Now quick. Someone call the people in the white coats.)

Next thing you'll tell us is that Batman and Robin had something going on.

Well, those Bat Poles were pretty phallic, no?

Posted by Lois Lane (Member # 5651) on :

You called?

When I was 8 years old and watched that show, that was the furthest thing from my thoughts. I thought they were magical fire-poles.

That fact that you find them phallic is a little disturbing. Sometimes a Batpole is just a Batpole. [Laugh]

So, getting back to the Superman thing... at what point will they do an interesting Superman movie (aside from Superman 2, which the more astute amongst you will note has already been filmed)? There's only so much angst I can stand before I want SOMEbody to get punched in the face.

I wouldn't say the batpoles are phallic exactly, but think on this: Bruce and Dick would be fully dressed, hop on the poles, and suddenly be wearing nothing but tights and skimpy little undies.

I don't remember that from the comic strip but I've seen a club that had poles kinda like that...

Every time I read this thread title, I hear Maynard singing "Why can't we just admit it?" (from the track Vicarious from the new tool cd 10,000 days.) Is that happening to anyone else? That's an awesome song. [Smile]

Tante Shvester, what color was my hair in your dream?

Posted by Uprooted (Member # 8353) on :

Jimmy, the obvious post for you would have been, "But you don't mess around with Jim." *grumbles because you beat me to the name so I can't post it*

Posted by Jimmy Olsen (Member # 9552) on :

Why would I be obvious? I mean, other than the fact that I'm Jimmy Olsen?

Posted by Uprooted (Member # 8353) on :

Sorry, the "obvious" was just me being petulant about being beaten to the name. You would have to know that previous posters were joking about the lyrics to Jim Croce's "You Don't Mess Around with Jim."

(On a related note, on my first job out of college I had a supervisor who would preface his response to any question asked with, "Obviously . . . " What was obvious was that I avoided asking him questions whenever possible.)

Alas, just like in the old Superman TV show, it was in black-and-white.

I can and do dream in color, just not when I dream about vintage TV shows.

You are totally right. I feel like asking Papa Janitor to rescind this screen name. It is wasted on him.
