I have an interview with the recruiter tomorrow, in Ocala, about a Jewelry Manager position up there. The pay is more than double what I make now, with much room to grow, both within the department and outside of it.

I am really excited. [Big Grin]

Good luck, Kwea. Do you mind if I ask you what type of jewelry? Not sure if you've mentioned that before or not. You probably have though, and I just missed it.

Congrats! It sounds like a great opportunity.

Ocala, Flordia is where the Central Florida Symphony is and I will most likely be playing in it this school year. Hopefully I will win the concerto competition and play with them as a soloist as well, but that cannot be predicted. If you get the job and like orchestra music I can try to get you comp. tickets.

Me? Like music? [Wink]

I played flute for years, and even played for an open audition for the DSO when I was 17/18. [Big Grin]

My wife is a semi-professional singer. A lyric coloratura, according to her. A ham, according to me. [Wink]

We would love to come, if possible.

I work for JC Penney, and have for about 4 years. The job is a Jewelry manager position within the company.

I thought I remembered you being musical. There is no obligation to come, but I thought you might appreciate it and it sounds like your wife will as well.

Sorry for the derail, but do you still play? You could always audition; it would be a chance to play more.

Depends on if I get the job, and where I move to. I don't play any more, really, but I am still OK at it.

Jenni is actually a "dramatic soprano"; I thought it was funny she corrected me about that (her mom was the coloratura) but didn't comment on being called a ham. [Big Grin]

Dramatic indeed. [Wink]

We would love to some, as that is our favorite type of music. Let us know as plans progress.

OK, I am off. Wish me luck, I could use all the help I can get. [Wink]

I am leaving now, giving myself 2 hours and 15 min for a drive that should take less than 1 1/2 hours, just in case. I have been burned before, can you tell? [Smile]

Rob, how is that going to affect Jenni's job if you get this one in Ocala? I would think that would be too far for either one of you to commute.

Good luck, dude. I always get nervous before job interviews. Then really anxious afterwards.

Thanks, all.

I hit a grand slam. To bad we were playing tennis, isn't it? [Wink]

I had a great interview. I thought I was doing great, and Jack (the DM) said he was impressed that I had driven an hour and a half to meet up with him, so he felt it was going well too....

Then I mentioned Massachusetts. He asked where I was from in MA, and I told him. Turns out that he knows the area well....he just transferred 2 months ago from Hartford, CT....and his district up there included both my old store and my fathers store in RI. [Big Grin] He almost had a cow when he found out who my dad was. I had the job before that, I am reasonably sure, but that didn't hurt. [Big Grin]

He is calling Paul Murtha, the District Manager from MA, to ask him about me. Since Paul use to buy all his suits from me, and came to the party for my dad that I organized, that is a good thing as well. Paul said on more than one occasion that he thought I should be doing something in management for JCPenney, but by that time I had agreed to move to FL.

Jack said he would let me know next week, but that he thought i should do a few things in the meantime. First, he wants my Store Manager to grant me access to the jewelry home page so I can start to learn this area, and the second is that he wants me to take the "white book" of jewelry standards home and study it.

In his words, " I would really consider doing that, as it is something you really need to....well, lets just say you are strongly encouraged to do so and leave it at that until we speak next week.".

Sounds encouraging, huh? [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

We will see. If he has me doing all this memorization for nothing I will be really, really pissed off.

I have better things to do on my only days off than this, you know. [Big Grin]

I'm crossing my fingers, toes, and whatever else I can and giving him all the love and support I can so that he gets this job. He is really excited about it, and although I hate the idea of having to pack everything up again and move, I'm all up for it. Thanks for all the support for him. You guys are great.
