Yeah, I saw it a couple months ago. I though it was very disappointing. The fight scenes were mediocre. Fans of the genre will have definitely seen better. The plot was lame, despite the fact that it was based on a real person who lead a fascinating life. I was hoping for so much more.

If this was really Jet Li's last martial arts movie, he went out with a whimper.

It wasn't released a couple of months ago. It's release date was Aug 4th.

How did you see it early?

It's been out in China for a while, not just in theatres, but on DVD. Once it's on DVD, it's everywhere.

How does it compare to Fist of Legend?

I'm a huge fan of Jet Li, but I can't find Fearless released anywhere until September. I'll wait for it on the big screen rather than download it -- I want the movie to get the money, and if this is to be my last Li film, I'd like to watch it for the first time in a theater.

It's very good. Though I had to try hard to enjoy it, thanks to the group of about 20 chav sh*theads a few rows behind me who wouldn't shut up. I'd've said something, but the fact that one of their own group actually moved at the beginning suggested to me that if they wouldn't listen to him they'd definitely not listen to me.

I'd also really reccomend 'Unleashed'. It's wierd. Very wierd. And not in the usual trite way that things generally are when people label them as wierd, but in a very odd unusual way.
It's pretty much 1/2 brutally violent martial arts flick and 1/2 soap opera.

The martial arts are brilliant in this one. In my opinion better than in Fearless, but it depends how brutal you like your fighting, and I'm much more a fan of the Bruce Lee style than the Crouching Tiger floaty sped up wired nonsense. Though saying that, this isn't that similar to any Bruce Lee, and Hero is brilliant too.
The soap opera bits were odd, and oddly placed, but not too bad on the whole, and it all finished with a bang, so it's all good.

You think Jet Li's good, wait until that Protector movie with Tony Jaa comes out. That guy is sick.

You mean Tom Yum Goong? The terribly retitles 'The Warrior King' and 'Protector'. It's already out here, but I'm happy to say that I of course saw it before that. It's one of the few things I've been ahead of everyone with. I saw the original Ong Bak waaay before anyone had heard of it, thanks to a Thai friend of mine who earmarked it as 'the next Bruce Lee' for me.
And damn if it wasn't close.

*Spoilers*

It's true he's better than Jet Li, though Tom Yum Goong is really very weak on the plot. And the scene with the guys attacking him in the warehouse, though brilliant, and brilliantly choreographed, makes no sense at all. At all. Why attacking him with flourescent tubes? Why a car/thingie hidden behind some barrels ready to pop out at him?
But it sure is purty! (to quote scrubs)
