Check your certificate. Seriously, I got a laptop once and it had an unlicensed copy of all the Windows and MS-Office stuff.

Microsoft has a page on their website to show what a real certificate sticker looks like and copies of a few of the more common fakes.

Have you made it 'yours' yet? If so - make them fix it if they're official.

I get attached and rename my comps. If you've already personalized the computer, if at all possible, I'd see how the place you bought it from can fix the problem. Don't take no for an answer, as long as yes is reasonable.

i simply swap it for another computer. i only found out after I turned it on.

ya they screwed up and gave me the wrong laptop as I said the OS was in French.
