It's true.
And I'm getting worse at talents I once was able to practice regularly and enjoy performing.

I've got to rectify this situation.
I'm not going to finish out my time being worse at guitar, a worse singer and a worse writer, a worse basketball player and a worse actor than when I started.

Is rectify spelled right?
I knew i was getting dumber.

IMO it's like this:

"Your brain gets smart and your head gets dumb."

I think that as we grow up, we invariably start to think more. This might influence activities that we have been enjoying for ages, and yes, even have a negative effect on your abilities.
Though I dislike mentioning such vague things, the pastimes you describe are all dependant in you being in the right state of mind. call it 'the zone' if you must, but anyway I think you know what I mean. You must have overheard famous athletes or actors talking about this; though they might be using different words to describe the same thing. (Flow, jazz, etc.)

Just be glad you've taken the time to learn these things when you were younger, and be assured your ability will never completely go away. Just find a new way to focus your powers.

Update: I am presently a better writer, better singer, worse at guitar, and much worse at basketball than I was when I wrote the above post. As for acting, I have not had a chance to act in more than two years, so that remains to be seen. However, it is worse mentioning that I often act like I know what I'm doing when I don't, and haven't been caught yet. [Razz]
