Stephen Colbert leads croatian-hungarian national hero by more than 15 million votes in bridge naming poll

ooo Stephen Colbert for Hegemon!

(ok, not really)

Heh, heh.

I'm sure that whoever is sponsoring the poll will ignore Colbert as a candidate, just as People does in its most beautiful people polls when people like that angry dwarf dude from the Howard Stern show out poll the 'real' beautiful people.

Hey now, don't discount Chuck Norris currently with 1% of the vote!

Paris Hilton is tied with Popeye, Tom & Jerry, Bruce Willis, Brittany Spears, and Ronald Reagan.

Wait- Ronald Reagan only has 5 votes? Guess the neocon campaign to name everything after him doesn't have as much power as they thought! [Laugh]

How many votes does Hero of the Workers Collective have?

The poll is sponsored by the Hungarian government I believe. Colbert first mentioned the bridge, and told people how to vote for him on Friday I think. At that point, he had something like 2,000 votes, without even mentioning it. Over the weekend that bumped up to 15 million. A couple days ago he told people to stop voting, especially since the site added in a sign up feature to make sure people don't vote twice.

He said it was time to call it off, given there are more votes for him than there are people in Hungary.

It's been a fairly hilarious story every night when he brings it up.

I would vote for "Madame Chuck Noris."

Oh, wait, it doesn't say that and the Croation probably doesn't mean that, but that is still how I would vote.
