Have you ever... you know... said "woot" in real life?
.....
you know... anyone besides me? *shame*
Posted by Dagonee (Member # 5818) on :
Yes, I have.
So far, only in discussions about MMORPGs.
Posted by BlackBlade (Member # 8376) on :
Same as Dag. I can't recall ever saying WOOT! out loud in real life. I can recall saying it over ventrillo while playing MMORPGS, or Counter Strike.
Posted by mr_porteiro_head (Member # 4644) on :
Sure. Why wouldn't I?

*preens to have been dobied*
I have definitely wooted in the RL.
The question is, has anyone ever said 'lol' as they were laughing....
I haven't yet, but I've felt a really strong urge to say it.
Posted by GeronL (Member # 9674) on :
woot there it is
my little doggie says woot woot
In this part of the woods we say 'woot that it were'

Saxon: =D
I don't think I've ever said LOL but I HAVE said "BeRB"
Posted by FlyingCow (Member # 2150) on :
yep. I say w00t.
Posted by airmanfour (Member # 6111) on :
I've got a friend at work who says w00t when work slows down. But he's in the navy, so does he count as a real life person?
Posted by pfresh85 (Member # 8085) on :
I say w00t when something really works out my way. It's mostly to friends though since we're all nerds anyways.
Posted by GeronL (Member # 9674) on :
I know someday I will LOL but I am definitely guarding against it
Posted by TheTick (Member # 2883) on :
I have, although most of the time in reference to woot.com.
Posted by BlackBlade (Member # 8376) on :
I have also said BRB.
and I have said "lol" out loud again while on ventrillo.
I imagine if I was with a bunch of computer gaming nerds, especially WOW ones, I would not be hard to prod those words out of me again.
Posted by Dr Strangelove (Member # 8331) on :
I've said woot, though after I say it I always tend to think "Why did I say that?", but I've never said "lol" outloud.
Posted by TheGrimace (Member # 9178) on :
to be fair I never said it in real life until after it had already been done in my presence by a very attractive female classmate. So I figure if the fairer of the two sexes can do it then surely a gaming geek of a guy can get away with it also.
Posted by Noemon (Member # 1115) on :
Only in relation to www.woot.com. Posted by kojabu (Member # 8042) on :
I think I may have said it once or twice. I tend to go "wee" more than anything else.
Posted by Jeesh (Member # 9163) on :
Can I get a woot, woot?
Posted by theamazeeaz (Member # 6970) on :
I have a friend who says it. She spends too much time on her computer.
Posted by Juxtapose (Member # 8837) on :
I've given a hearty "woot!" before.
Never gone so far as to give a "lol" though.
Posted by Swampjedi (Member # 7374) on :
I "woot" when playing games and wanting to feel stupid.
I only mockingly use the word "noob" though.
Posted by Mr.Funny (Member # 4467) on :
I've used various forms of 1337speak in real life, such as w00t, lol, brb, 1337, t3h, etc. etc.
It helps that I'm a teenaged guy who spends lots of time on the computer, and that I often spend time with people with similar traits.
Posted by Synesthesia (Member # 4774) on :
I say "Squee" This is because I am a dork and I get happy when I hear cool songs or someone promises me chocolate.
Posted by Beca (Member # 4340) on :
I say w00t. : )
Posted by Goody Scrivener (Member # 6742) on :
I w00t (and I shop on woot), I squeeee, but I don't think I've ever LOL'ed.
Posted by Tatiana (Member # 6776) on :
How about "pwn"? How do you pronounce it? We had quite a discussion about how to pronounce pwn, once. I'd like to hear hatrack's thoughts.
I say "pown" (rhymes with "own").
Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :
I've said Woot out loud before, and have once or twice said "lol," only to have the verbal smack down laid on me by friends.
Posted by Uprooted (Member # 8353) on :
Well, at least w00t is pretty much pronounced woot. I've never said it out loud--actually, I'm not sure I've ever even typed it--but I can imagine the possiblity of saying it.
On the other hand, when I see LOL I don't think "ell oh ell," I think "laughing out loud," so I would never just say "LOL" in real life. Same with BRB--in my mind, that is pronounced "be right back" so if I said it out loud, that's what I'd say!
Posted by ChevMalFet (Member # 9676) on :
w00p, Whoop, wewp. We didn't have w00t when I was IRCing, just latent Douglas Adams references. I always suspected woot derived from woop.
Posted by GeronL (Member # 9674) on :
I love woot-mart
Posted by Mr.Funny (Member # 4467) on :
I say pwn, and pronounce it the same way you do, Tatiana.
Posted by Eduardo St. Elmo (Member # 9566) on :
I've used lol in real life conversations, but I have a slight advantage over all of you. Because in my mother tongue lol is actually a word. And fortunately its meaning isn't that far removed from 'laughing out loud'

I've said "woot" but I'm more likely to say "Yaaay!".
But I do refrain from doing the little "prayer-hands" clap when I say it, 'cause that would be, you know, really gay.
Posted by ladyday (Member # 1069) on :
*snorts* Yeah I've said woot, probably in all sorts of contexts. I've also /squee'ed and have been known to utter an occassional 'Double you tee eff!' or 'Oh em gee!'
Posted by Flaming Toad on a Stick (Member # 9302) on :
I've never said woot in normal conversation. I do say pwn'd about 100 times a day, though. It really annoys my little brother.
Posted by The Pixiest (Member # 1863) on :
pwn rhymes with own and yes, I've said it.
I have also said "teh"
I have also used "teh" in conjunction with a particular 4 letter explative.
I have also said "WTF" (though in fairness, I was pointing at a truck that was part of the "WTF" truck line. I'm sure it was named before the acronym came into vogue)
My vocabulary is starting to look like Barrens chat...
On a side note: Woot! My dobie is bigger than the original thread!
