Do you mean they independently came up with an idea similar to one you had in the past, and they implemented it...

or...

Did you submit this idea to someone only to have it used without attribution and compensation?

Well, your idea looks like hell of fun. I'm not going to sign up, though. I already play showdog.com and that's enough online gaming for me for one day!

That makes me think of Force of Arms.

Blayne, what about this idea is original? This kind of thing goes back to old PBEM and BBS Empire games.

As an incidental aside, the accepted past form of 'to steal' in 1337 is "stolorized", as in, "OMG they stolorized my idea!!11oneoneone".

I meant Stoles it in the ay Gollum says it not the way the average nerd would spell it.

And probly the former =( But man its been a reuccring theme now I have an idea I mention it to someone and 2 weeks later someone unrelated does it like omg.

Just stop telling other people your ideas then, or get them down on paper first. So you might be able to step up and claim it as your own by ways of proof.
But on the whole I do sympathise, things like this have happened to myself in the past.

More 1337 speak in thread titles = bad!

I suspect this has been under development a good deal more than two weeks. I also suspect games along this line are released more often than once a month.

Check the dat for the "Star Empires" Thread I started 2003-4-ish plenty of time to develop it and its on a forum so its possible they found it liked it and decided to use it.

Blayne, let me repeat myself: there is nothing original about this game. This game specifically does not incorporate those elements of your original "Star Empires" suggestion that would have made your game unique (and almost impossible to create), probably because those suggestions would, as we pointed out in that thread, have made the game almost impossible to create.

I think the first time I saw a game along those lines was sometime in the 90s. And they almost certainly existed before that.
