At least I think it was a movie. It could've been a T.V. show. It was about these people who lived in a secluded society. I guess there had been some of viral incident. The people who were ok had to wear a jewel or crystal on their chest. These were different colors so you could tell who was a possible mate. Apparently, if you mated with someone of a different colored jewel, you could have a child that was affected by the virus. They were allowed to venture out of the compound with masks on.
The people who were infected by the virus were in another camp or caves. They were in some sort of "deevolved" state and were considered violent.
I imagine I watched this movie in the mid 90's on T.V. Anyone think they have seen it?

I saw that. I don't remember the name. I think it was a doomed pilot.
Which was too bad. it looked kinda interesting.

I know this movie (made for TV). The viral incident was an anti-aging drug. Some people it reacted badly with, most it worked (they had to wear the crystals), and some never took it so it didn't matter.

Hm. I could swear that you were describing a Philip Jose Farmer novel I loved about 20 years ago (the title of which escapes me).
