So, my gas service got shut off in the spring because I'm poor...they wanted $499 on my next to last bill. After the gas was shut off, they amended the bill to just the $42 I actually owed. Apparently the other $457 was just the deposit I was never able to catch up on.

I've been waiting to have it turned on this fall because I figured they'd want that big deposit again. But it turns out that since October 1st, there is a new law here, and they are required to turn it on for the lesser of one third of the past due balance or the $19 reconnect fee.

Now it is 65 degrees in here even though it's on 48 outside! Yay!

Yeah, I hear you. Reasonable isn't common enough. It sounds like some things are looking up for you, though, and that's always good.
