... especially MrSquicky.

Lately I have been irritable, quick to anger, hasty in my judgments, and have not been been fair in my communications, both on Hatrack and in real life.

In other words, I've been exactly the kind of person that I wish would just go away and leave Hatrack a better place.

I'm sorry to all of you, especially MrSquicky, who appears to have received the worst of it.

---

This has been an incredibly stressful time for me. Not only am I in the middle of moving my family to a different state, but last Friday I was told that the project I am in charge of at work is now due on one month instead of six months like I was told. Because of my work situation, I shouldn't be taking any time off right now, let alone the entire week required to move.

Either one of these could cause me unhealthy levels of stress. Taken together, I'm developing stress symptoms that I haven't seen in myself since I was a teenager.

Not that this excuses my bad behavior, but hopefully it will help to explain it.

They say that the true measure of a man is how he acts when things are difficult. If so, then I have measured up poorly. I'm sorry. We all deserve better.

I must have missed where you did any of this.

I hope things get better soon.

I haven't really seen it, either.

Hope things improve. [Smile]

You don't sound so bad to me... Just relax and I hope things get better for you

mph....best of luck with the move, and with everything else as well. As far as I am concerned, irritable or not, I am glad you are here at Hatrack. We may not agree on everything, but that only enriches the discussions here. We have all snapped at people and then later regretted it.

Or at least I know I have. [Wink]

I hope it all works out for you and your family, and that your stress level drops soon. [Smile]

I didn't notice it, either, but kudos to you for stepping up and saying that you felt like you were and are remorseful if anyone felt that way, too...

I hope things start to get a little more destressed for you and git 'er done with your project + the move. ; )

It's very graceful of you to apologize, although I had barely noticed it. Thank you for that. [Smile]

You'll make it through alright Porter. And don't sweat it if you're being irritable around here. Everyone's entitled to their moods. Very decent of you to apologize though.

Didn't notice any behavior that's different from the norm, mph. [Taunt] j/k I hope all works out and your situation improves soon!

Not that I specifically think I'm one of the people you might mean (though I'm still a tad confused about what was probably a misunderstanding on both our parts regarding whether or not Mormon-Doctrine suggests that meat should be eaten sparsely), but you're forgiven. [Smile]

(And by the way, I don't mean to suggest that I think that's something you would have to apologize for)

(Don't even know why I mentioned it now)

(Except that I usually respect your opinion and I guess it still bothers me the way that went down)

(But you're good people)

(I'll go away now)

(I should go)

(Here I go)

(((MPH)))

Hang in there man. I didn't really notice it too much, either. There were one or two times where I thought a post was uncalled for. But most people write a few uncalled for posts, so *shrug*

I'd suggest that acknowledging one's behaviour during difficult times and apologising for it (whether or not the apology is warranted)is also part of how one acts when things are difficult.

You measure up pretty good. [Smile]

I'm increasingly of the opinion that good character lies not in never making a mistake, but in quickly correcting mistakes as they inevitably occur.

I don't think MPH ever made a mistake.

So there.

I might have seen it a little bit, but I only think it's noticeable by contrast. Some of us are that way pretty regularly, so no one bats an eye. [Wink]

But seriously, Porter, if you're what passes for irritable and quick to anger in your world, I gotta pay you a visit. Heck, half my family is worse than that on their good days.

Oof, that does sound like a lot of stress indeed. But I'm sure you'll come out the other side of it just fine. (((mph)))

Porter, at worst you've been a little shorter than normal. And you've apologized for it.

If a man, when things gets difficult, gets a bit snippy on an Internet forum and still feels bad enough to apologize about it, I'd say he measures up just fine. [Smile]

I agree with Tom (and a lot of other folks in the thread, but Tom's post is right there and so convenient). Good luck with all the stress; here's hoping it passes soon and well.

wow Porter [Hat]

Agree with everyone here [Smile]

porter,
I do appreciate the apology and it raises my opinion of you. Because of this, I'm hesitant to say that it's not really warranted. If you were a little short with me and with others, I don't think you've gone beyond the realms of propriety. So, thanks, and I hope things get less stressful for you, but I don't really think you really needed to do this.

What Tom said. Good luck to you guys with the move.

Thank you, MrSquicky.

BTW, I don't think I've ever said so, but I think you have one of the coolest screennames I've ever seen. It makes me think "I wish I had thought of that."

I used to take a little bit of crap because of that, back when Hatrack was smaller and somewhat less silly. Some people said they found it hard to take me seriously with a name like that. It actually comes from an old 7-up commerical, where one of the lines by a South Asian Quik-i-mart owner is "You must pay for Mr - uh- Squeeky." but it comes out sounding like Squicky. I loved that line, and it's a name that is never taken.
