My current employer is going through some financial difficulties that are resulting in decreased pay for me (Last time I work for a startup company ever ever again). I've posted my resume on careerbuilder.com and applied for a few jobs, and my brother and father are looking around in Northern Colorado and Western North Carolina for me. I really want to get out as many resumes as possible wherever I can. So I'm hoping that someone here on Hatrack might be able to help me out looking for a relatively good tech job. I've been working as a bench tech solidly for three years, worked in IT for a year and a half prior to that, and goofed around fixing computers for a few small businesses since about 1996. I've been getting into network administration, since I'm currently working for a consulting firm. I learn fast, and can figure anything out pretty quickly (My Google-fu is strong). Basically, I'm thinking wherever at this point. I've got one job offer in Alaska, but the cost of living is slightly prohibitive (even at nearly double pay, I'd still only be making about 1-200 dollars a month more).
edit to add: I think relocation also depends on whether or not I can get financial help moving and getting into an apartment. I've centered my search on areas where I have good friends/family who can help me get a roof over my head fairly quickly.

Right now I'm rock bottom at 12 an hour. Alaska offered 18 an hour (not quite double, but not far from it). 18 or 19 is definately a sweet spot for me right now, considering my current background. I can pass A+ certification and probably MCDST/MCP without any problems, but I don't have the money to buy waivers :S

Are you looking for hands on technician, or over the phone support, and do you have any preference for where in the US you would be living?

Hands on preferably. I've never been good at phone support, really. No preferences, not a huge fan of California for some reason, but anywhere else is good.

There are a couple of things here and there, depending on location. I would recommend searching for Network Operation/ Technical Operation jobs in all locations.
