Its a new book by an insider, I wish I could get my hands on a copy but what I found particularly interesting was,

quote:

When the U.S. captured his former camp commander Ibn Sheik al Libi in Afghanistan, he did what he'd trained Nasiri and other recruits to do, lying to his captors that Saddam Hussein had nuclear weapons and al Qaeda was going to get there hands on them.

This reminded me of our threads on Iraq and Torture in that these men were actually trained to give bad information to the US upon capture. I feel kind of stupid in that I assumed most soldiers are trained to keep silence or refuse to submit to torture. It did not enter my mind that people might actually be told to say that Saddam had nukes or WMD and was going to give them to Al Qaeda. It certainly weakens the argument that, "All the intelligence pointed to yet."

Not saying this voids the argument, perhaps the US Govt was actively skeptical about the intelligence, but if it was, it has yet to say so.
