I think I recall seeing this game mentioned before on Hattrack or by Mr Card, and so with that flimsy justification ( ) I want to point out a mod for it if anyone is interested. If you enjoy fantasy and Civilization, you probably will like it. (If not, ignore and this post will likely be on page two by tomorrow! )
Fall From Heaven Download here It is quite different, new civs, religions, units, and a magic system. (Oh, and dragons!) (BTW, I am one of the writers. )

Wow. That looks really good! I was just thinking about getting a game of Civ 4 going. I'm going to download this and give it a shot. Thanks

Oh, man, that looks like so much fun! I can't wait to give it a spin tonight.

Nikisknight, that's an impressive piece of work. I'm actually having more fun with it than I was with vanilla Civ IV (and since the Civ franchise is probably my favorite single series of games, with me having bought and played it from Civ I on my Amiga on up, that's saying something). I can't believe that what you've done so far is such a small fraction of what you're planning on doing, and can't wait to see what you add to it in Fire.

Well, in honesty I must add that I am a recent addition to a talented team or programmers and artists. I was a fan before being an official member. Personally I've added some dialogue, strategy text, ideas of course, and leader stories such as Capria, Jonas, and Sheelba. The only real problem is a bit incompetant AI, but on monarch or above you'll probably get a good challenge once you have learned the basics. This is a good place to check if you have questions: http://civ4wiki.com/wiki/index.php/Fall_from_Heaven_II
edit: darn parenthesis!
