I go through a box a week. They're addictive.

Darn, beaten by two minutes. Very well, I concede.

Oooh! We probably won't be able to afford them ourselves this year, but when we get to my parents' house, there will definitely be yummy clementines. I can't wait. [Big Grin]

I want a clementine SO MUCH! I meant to buy a box on St. Nicholas' day, but I forgot. It's much harder to go shopping when it can't just be a quick stop at the store on your way back from something else. Now it's a trip of its own.

Okay... hold on. Do all of you live in the east? Where I come from, everyone eats Mandarin Oranges around this time of year, not Clementine's. My wife is from Ontario, however, and they always have Clementine's there.

Mandarin Oranges are better.

/agree Wonder Dog

I miss mandarin oranges...I haven't seen them for sale here. We used to have three mandarin orange trees in our yard when I was little.

Odd, my roommates just bought a box of Clementines. You people must have psychic powers!

They are quite tasty.

Wait, clementines are an east thing? Does that mean I won't be able to find them in St. Paul? Because I will cry...

We can get crates of them in the Supermarkets here in Oklahoma this time of year.

Clementines, like most citrus in the U.S., grow primarily in two states: Florida and California. They get shipped all over the U.S.

I have occasionally bought them in (3 pound? 5 pound?) red mesh bags, but I don't think I've ever seen them sold loose. And it's almost always the 5-pound "crates" (which are cardboard these days).

Is there a difference (if any) between clementines and tangerines? I had two tangerine trees back home in Hawaii that I love (one sweet and one tangy). When I came to the mainland though, the grocery stores had them all labeled clementines...

Sorry to scare you with the east-only Clementine thing. I was exaggerating for humor. The truth of it is that my wife, raised in Ontario, associates Clementine's with the Christmas season, and I, raised in Alberta, associate Mandarin Oranges instead. It's kind of a feud between us. [Big Grin]

But I'm sure you can find Clementines all over North America. (Mandarin Oranges are just way more popular in Alberta).

Apparently it needs to be in all three threads. [Wink]

Clementines and tangerines are both types of mandarins.

Pictures!

Wait, three threads?

Posted by Uprooted (Member # 8353) on :

Pel's original thread which had nothing to do w/ clementines until it got hijacked (and later locked), then the two clementine threads that popped up at about the same time to continue the derail.

Ah, okay. I didn't read that thread until it got locked, and even then, only to, *cough* watch the trainwreck.

I just bought a box the other day. Sadly, they're not that awesome. But not bad. Just a bit of a dissapointment after not having them in a while.

Well, of all the members of the family, I like to eat Mandarin the most. [Big Grin]

ps - Thanks rivka!

I went to Whole Foods yesterday.

I now have a (half-empty) box of clementines in my room.
