Linkie(edited to fix link)
quote:
It will be the first time in history that the U.S. Mint has produced a series featuring women.
Does anyone else find the resemblance of Martha and George to be a little too similar?
quote:
The first coin in the series features a stern-looking Martha Washington, wearing a bonnet, on one side with a depiction of her mending a soldier's jacket on the other side and the phrase, "First Lady of the Continental Army.

The link don't work on my computer but sounds like an interesting story to follow.

I would rather they put women who were notable for doing something on coins rather than women who were notable for who they were married to. Some first ladies qualify in both categories.

Yeah, I mean George Washington's wife was sorta lame compared to other first ladies.

Yeah I knew about the Presidential dollar series, but I doubt I'll be getting any of these.

Maybe Elanor Roosevelt, or Jackie O, or Abigail Adams, but that's it.

The Martha link works for me, the George link doesn't.

While it's unquestionably time to have some women on our coins (or hey! our dollars! Let's get on that!), I agree that the choice of first ladies isn't the best. There are so many fantastic women in our history - I've wanted Harriet Tubman on our money for ages - and we should be celebrating them.

As a blatant attempt to derail this thread, how about the Swedish Bikini Team on some money?

I do believe it would increase the amount of money saved in this country?

If by saved you mean hoarded like cheap porn hidden in the bottom of your underwear drawer.

It would greatly influence some people to buy more fuel efficient cars. Its either that or pay three "Naughty Nurses" per gallon.

For those who don't find scantily clad young ladies appropriate on their cash, we would also print Johnny Depp on the $1, Aragon on the $5 and Legolas on the $10.

Switch Frodo in for Legolas and you have my vote!
