Has anyone here been on Hatrack as long, or longer, than me (August 2001), and posted less than I have (378 posts)?

I am on Hatrack every day, multiple times usually, but I may hold the record for oldest still-active member with the fewest posts.

Am I allowed to have a landmark thread when my posts reach 400? [Razz]

Posted by Tristan (Member # 1670) on :

Heh, I think I would be a candidate, but you have me beat on fewer posts. I have also lurked pretty regularly since I joined, but posted little. This would be because a) usually someone else has already made the point I would have made and worded it better; and b) since I can read perhaps 50 posts during the time it would take me to compose a single one, reading seems as a much more efficient use of my time [Wink] .

This fledgling Hatracker has no problem with the idea.

I have been on Hatrack for two years longer than you, and I have 1533 posts. So you are far more the lurker than I am. I think I'll have a landmark next June at eight years of hatracking.

just call me super lurker ;O)

i don't know if this counts since this was a forgotten name for a long time.

Posted by Tristan (Member # 1670) on :

The sign up date for several posters, including e.g. me and Tom, seems to be incorrect on that list.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

Yeah, I saw that and went "2004? What the...?" [Wink]

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

No wonder it claims I post more than Tom! I knew that couldn't be right.

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

Note: by increasing the listed time I've been on this forum, my posts per month value will actually DROP (assuming it's otherwise correct), thus increasing your lead. *grin*

Posted by El JT de Spang (Member # 7742) on :

I check in at a relatively modest 185 ppm.

Posted by FlyingCow (Member # 2150) on :

Wow, I've been posting a lot lately.

Right now I'm at 40.7 ppm with 2688 posts. Last December I was only around 1500 posts - or 27 ppm.

Looking back to my only landmark in 2003, I was at about 27.8 ppm back then.

Damn cubicle job has certainly elevated my addiction.

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Yeah, Tom, I know. Moreover, a casual inspection of our post counts and join dates make it clear that I must average more posts than you.

Was I supposed to include a [Wink] j/k?

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

It depends. Is Ralphie around?

Posted by rivka (Member # 4859) on :

Alas, no. But since I happen to agree with her on the abomination-before-God aspect of that particular combination . . .

Posted by Sharpie (Member # 482) on :

I was thinking about doing a landmark when my posts hit my usernumber -- but that's pretty frickin soon [Smile] .

I may not be THE lurker, but I'm fairly up there, I think.

Posted by TimeTim (Member # 2768) on :

Man, a landmark is way too much work. I'll just let my post slowly accumulate and then I'll cash them all in for *real* money! Oh boy! I can't wait for the payout, it'll be millions and millions and...what's that? Hatrack posts aren't worth hundreds of dollars a post?

No, it can't be true!

Is your username taken from "Number of the Beast"?

Posted by dean (Member # 167) on :

To be fair, my post number has long since passed my user number.

Posted by Alcon (Member # 6645) on :

I wonder how many of you old folk who post little are in fact alts?

Cause I find it rather hard to believe that there are that many people who lurk that consistently and have been around that long with that few posts.

Course if there are then... wow.

Oh wow... I'm at 62.45 ppm. That's a lot more than I'd expected. That's a little more than 2 a day.

Posted by Aaron (Member # 1) on :

Every time I see one of these "Who's the Lurkiest Lurker of them All?" threads I wonder if it will be the time I post. Nobody ever offers a prize, though, and who wants to ruin perfect lurker status without even getting a prize I ask you? Well here I am stepping forward to claim the lurker crown, whether there's a prize or not. Is there a prize? Is the crown the prize? Do I get a lifetime supply of Turtle Wax? *Returns to his Lurker Box*

Posted by calaban (Member # 2516) on :

Oopps my apologies. If that was not a rediculous mistype '04 would leave Tom at 896ppm. [Eek!]

Aaron wins the prize for having the ultimate member number. [Hail]

Who needs a prize when youre just that cool. [Cool]

Posted by Marlozhan (Member # 2422) on :

*pokes Aaron's box in hopes of getting him to post again*

Jan 2002 and only 95 posts. >.>;

Well now 96. ^.^;

I'm so hit and miss with this site, but I always come back.

Actually it's a double meaning. The one I usually give is "I was looking for a pen name", which people groan at. The second is DEFINITELY from Number of the Beast. Sharpie has been my hero since I first read that at age something like 13.

How do you find out your ppm?

And I can't believe Tom is only a couple posts a month higher than me, he should be like a 100 posts a month higher.

Posted by Kasie H (Member # 2120) on :

I might qualify for this list you're putting together.

Posted by Kasie H (Member # 2120) on :

I clock in at about 21 posts per month.

Posted by Flaming Toad on a Stick (Member # 9302) on :

I'm at 98.3ppm. Is that good or bad?

Posted by Evie3217 (Member # 5426) on :

Yeah, how exactly do we figure out what our ppm are? Because I'm interested, even if I don't post half as much as *some* people on this forum [Wink]

Posted by Alcon (Member # 6645) on :

Lyrhawn... you take your registered date... from that you find the number of months you've been here... then you do this thing called division: divide # of posts by # of months. Bingo! Post per month. [Razz]

Posted by TomDavidson (Member # 124) on :

PPM = posts per month.
If you divide the number of posts you've made to date by the number of months since you joined, you'll be able to get this figure.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

There's a guy from way back in the beginning ("Mike"?) with something like less than a hundred posts, IIRC.

Posted by dean (Member # 167) on :

Mikey, on his main account, has only 182 posts, which calculates out to two posts a month. I don't know if he still lurks here, though. I know he read the site as recently as December two years ago. On his alternate account, he has only about thirty posts, which comes out to fewer than .4 posts per month.

I was going through user-numbers, and it brought back the memories.

106 ppm for me. [Smile]

Oooooh, I get it. See, I thought there was actually a way you could check and see like how many posts you made in November or something. This is just an average.

I didn't even post for the first three or four months I was signed up, not more than a dozen or two posts.

I had something way, way more complicated in mind. [/unnecessary complexity]

Posted by Earendil18 (Member # 3180) on :

Let me see what my post is after I reply to this, but I've been around since '01 with a closed mouth, and I think my first account actually got deleted. [Wink]

You beat me on post count. Fur shure.

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

I average 65.6 PPM. More than it feels, but I know from my post count that I post a fair bit [Smile]

Looks like Aaron wins. Because he's even from the "Long Time Ago" club -- which doesn't that mean registered before Hatrack is at the domain it is now?

Whoa... member number one!! :::prostrates self:::

Posted by vonk (Member # 9027) on :

120ppm?! Wow. Now what's the equation to figure out how much work I would have gotten done in the past year had I not been making those posts?

Posted by orlox (Member # 2392) on :

Most of my posts have come in the last few months, having been a little ashamed at my grand lurker status. I started on the old AOL Hatrack and managed to lurk on the new site for a few years before I felt compelled to register in order to say something. Some drivel about memes if memory serves...

Posted by Bokonon (Member # 480) on :

FG, The A Long Time Ago! dates mean the user was migrated over to the current message board software from the old, non-compatible one. The Big Mouth Lion -> UBB migration.

Posted by orlox (Member # 2392) on :

Does anyone remember the old AOL site? Was it 96 when they kicked us off?

Posted by Tatiana (Member # 6776) on :

I wonder what my ppm average is? Wow! 127 ppm on this sn, and that includes a lot of months with zero posts!

I could do an overall, but it still wouldn't include my bml posts. I started in June of 97, I think, and I had around 200 odd posts on bml before we migrated to ubb.

I wasn't around in the AOL days.

9 1/2 years on hatrack! <shakes head>

What in da world. Member number one.

I lurk nowadays, but my postwhore days more than make up for it.

Posted by dean (Member # 167) on :

I started at Big Mouth Lion as well, but I didn't know that there was a way to import your start-date like that.

Posted by jRc (Member # 1335) on :

This username lurks pretty well.

Posted by Alcon (Member # 6645) on :

Where in the heck are all these uber lurkers coming from?

Some of them have to be alts. Come on, fess up, some of you are alts. Who is it?
