Has anyone else here seen it.

I missed the Broadway version, much to my displeasure, but I loved the film version.

Alan Bennet must be one of the greatest playwrites alive today and the cast was wonderful.

The funny thing is, while the play was almost universaly loved in both London and New York, winning armfuls of awards; the film recieved, at best, middling praise.

A surprising number of critics condemned any film which showed nineteen-year old boys in any sexual relationship with thirty and sixty-year old men.

While Alan Bennet's sexuality is tolerated and his work revered in London and New York, it seems Hollywood is not quite ready for him.

The New Yorker and the New York Times were by far the most impressed with the film, perhaps becouse their critics were already impressed with the play.

I'm just curious, PB. Are you planning on starting like half a dozen new topics each week? I ask, because you're kind of new here, and you should know that doing that does tend to make some of us take what you post less seriously.

He has started three topics, one of which was an introduction. That's hardly out of the ordinary, and not really worthy of criticism. Besides, it's not like he's starting "OMG, when's the ENDERS GAMES MOVIE coming out!?!?!!11" threads.
