and as such ill be finding out my bloodtype, tomorrow I'll be going to the Armoury where I'll be processed and then officially in the reserves my honorary swearing in ceremony is the week after.
So yes I'll finally be able to relieve my violent urges.

I'm O-, and so is the rest of my immediate family. Unfortunately, none of us can give blood- my parents and sister because they lived in Europe for more than 6 months in the 80s(I lived there for five months, so technically I'm safe in that regard), and me because I have seizures.

Tinros, same here -- I'm O neg but can't donate due to living in Portugal on my mission. Well, and then Africa for two months. But I used to donate regularly back in the day. It was a good feeling. And they always made a fuss about how much they needed the O- blood.

I'm A+. The last time I gave, I got all freaked out when they took the needle out. (The skin got stuck around it, and they had to wiggle the needle around a lot.)
They had to slap cold towels on my head and tilt the chair back. But I got to drink some juice and not work, so that was nice.

If you have a rare blood type and can give blood, it is a crime that you don't. Just imagine if you were to get into a situation where your blood was necessary for an operation but they didn't have any because "no one would need it anyway."

I don't know what blood type I am, but I doubt I'd be much use giving blood anyway - whenever I've had a blood test I've passed out and usually woken up on the floor with nurses all around me. Funny, because I'm not scared of blood or gore at all, but there's just something about blood tests...

I'm O+, which is the most common type. Therefore, it's in almost as high demand as O-, because the majority of people need it once they are matched to type-specific.
I give blood several times a year. The most recent time, I took iron pills for a week (because my iron is often barely below the cutoff) to be able to do so, and plan to repeat that in a couple months.
Anyone who can give blood (and certainly, many cannot) should.

I'm AB+ as well, and I give blood fairly often. Even though we AB+ people can only give to others like ourselves, and we are universal receivers, which means we can receive any blood type, it's always better to receive the identical blood type. Since we're pretty rare, and our blood is less useful, it can conceivably be a struggle for blood banks to get donations from AB+ people.
I identify myself as having "vampire blood", because I can suck anyone's blood. Alternatively, I apply the label "selfish blood".

I could be O+ or O- I am not sure. I can't donate blood because I lived in Hong Kong for 11 years, Malaysia for 4, Taiwan for 2, and I spent alot of time traveling to places like Africa the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, etc.
My blood is an international cocktail of disease.

That's how I am. I've never actually passed out, but I have to start out lying down or else I get really pale and feel like I have a fever (I feel really warm and like I'm going to throw up). The nurses always panic, too. I don't think I'll be able to give blood until/unless I gain some weight or something.

I'm also B+, so maybe not so rare. All 4 of my children have been O+. I'm beginning to have suspicions that my husband might have been cheating on me. (And yes, I know I must have an O allele from mom, but the odds are against.)

O neg, but my blood pressure is too low to give anymore. I used to donate blood, but after the first couple of times my pressure was evaluated as "just barely high enough" and I passed out repeatedly after each time, I had to rethink the situation.

Adverse reactions by the donor are a very good reason NOT to donate.

I tried finding out how to donate here, but got nowhere. Found an email address for the local Red Cross office, fired an email off, but... No response.
I'm thinking they just don't care that much.

A-. My brother is O (not sure if he's - or +), and he gives blood almost every time he's eligible.
