This is an "Alternate Reality Docu-Soap Drama Game Show" about a school of teen-aged witches. Their hopes, their dreams, their angst...their attempts to learn magickal secrets.

Sounds...familiar, doesn't it? [Wink]

Yeah, I'm sure the producers of Sabrina are frothing at the mouth.

Wasn't there another British version of this show? Either that, or it's just Harry Potter reincarnated.

The first "school for young witches" movie (British, I think) was made before Rowling began writing, and Rowling began writing stories in her very early elementary school years.

"Gifted Young people go off to special school to learn how to do incredible things" is one of the oldest stories in all of fiction.

That said, it definitely sounds like this show is drawing inspiration from Sabrina TTW and HP. No matter if those weren't the first. [Smile]

I don't know what came before it, but there was the British 'Worst Witch' movie and a TV series based on the books by Jill Murphy back in the 80s.
The story was about an unsuccessful kid called Mildred Hubble who went to witch school - and is often credited as one of Rowling's inspirations.

I remember the books being really good when I read them (I was 5 at the time, though).

Well, I'm sure that's not exactly a unique idea. After all, many of those ideas date back to legend.

Sci fi has so disappointed me in the last 5 years.

Bella, I remember "Worst Witch"; I think it was aired on the Disney channel or something. It was really cute!

I'll only watch it if we get details of the curriculum, and they work.
