I am in the middle of a auto-semi-biography of a famous actor, one most of Hatrack is familiar with. However, certain aspects of his life I found very surprising.

Now I could list out the clues on this page, and come back every few hours to add more hints, but I don't have the time for that. Instead I'll list them here. Grade yourself on how far down the list it took you to get the right answer.

1) He worked on a road project in Tito's Yugoslavia.

2) He made a film in Russia that very very few people ever saw.

3) He was arrested in Cuba, being mistaken for a Castro rebel.

4) He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor in both of his first two major movies. (An earlier movie was terrible, and seen be very few people)

5) He Co-Starred with Frank Sinatra

6) He Co-Starred with Tony Curtis, Jack Lemon, and Natalie Wood in a hillarious movie.

7) He was in a movie that contained a such comic masters as Johanthon Winters, Buster Keaton, and Phill Silvers.

8) He Co-Starred with Wesley Snipes and Ving Rhames

9) Yet he is most well known for his TV work.

10) Oh, and he was in A Princess Bride.

11) Think Raincoat in Sunny California

12) One more thing....

13) His most watched character had a wife we never see.

14) That character was a detective, once called, the oppisite of Sherlock Holmes.

The Answer---Peter Falk.

#9 and #10 alone did it for me.

And not only do we not see his wife, we are never told her name.

Rose. Columbo wouldn't dream of lying to Sinatra.

Frank's "connections" sure had a way of getting *anything* out of anyone, didn't they?
