We're thinking about moving to that area soon. Anyone live there or visited and have any info/opinions? Awesome? Crap-tastic?

Fort Worth has a fantastic zoo, a great science museum and outstanding concert hall. Traffic can be a little loopy, cost of living is fairly low (Much less than either coast for sure)and a lot of major telecommunications companies have their offices there and in nearby Irving and not-as-near Richardson. There are a ton of major league sports nearby and some fairly respectable colleges. A little to the north is Denton, which houses some excellent musicians... most notably the grammy-winning UNT 1 o'clock Lab Band.
They also have a pretty cool airshow at Alliance Airport every year... annd the Texas Motor Speedway, in addition to Nascar and IRL races, hosts some big festival-type concert tours as well.

I was there recently for a concert. We stayed with my uncle. From what I saw driving around, its a nice little city and my uncle had nothing but praise since they moved there a few years ago.

I'm looking for anyplace that's cheaper and less oven-like than Tucson. My husband, unfortunately, is more specific than that.
It's become nearly impossible for a relatively low-income family to survive in Tucson. We're not poor, but we know we could be doing alot better somewhere else.

Fort Worth has a VERY low cost of living, and it has some world-class museums and an opera. The scenery isn't great, but the schools are good.
There is, for practical purposes, no public transportation. You have to have a car, and it can take a very long time to drive places because the population and city is fairly spread out. Most of the jobs in the area are in Dallas, though. Many of the people I knew who lived in Fort Worth worked in Dallas, and the commute could be bad. If I was raising a family and was able to find work in Fort Worth, Fort Worth would be a good place.

Oh yeah... forgot the Kimball Art Museum... as Kat says, world-class. Renowned, even.
Though I don't like anything I've seen there as much as I like "The Icebergs" by Fredrick Church at the Dallas Museum of Art.

Billy Bob's is overrated.
If you like theme parks, drive east to Arlington. It's between FW and Dallas.
Be sure and visit the Japanese Garden.

I haven't seen much of either Dallas or Ft. Worth, but I have had some great barbecue there. Best pork ribs ever and the brisket isn't bad either.

It's funny, I've lived in Dallas most of my life, but Ft. Worth is like a foreign country to me. It's such a different world there. Crime is lower; schools are better. It seems more "Texas" there.
You still want to carefully investigate which neighborhood you move into there. There are always bad neighborhoods, but it seems like such a different world from Dallas.
And like everyone has said, there are many neat things to do there.

I loved living in San Angelo. I don't know why. It just felt right. Sadly, I married a person who is uncomfortable if it's over 65 degrees out.

Oh, pooka, I love the weather here, minus the tornadoes everyday in spring. It's in the 70's here, and the forecast for Tucson today is over 100. Yuck.
I expect it to get hotter, but it just can't compare.
