I am now a rabid Deborah Blum fan. I just finished Ghost Hunters: William James and the Search for Scientific Proof of Life After Death. I loved it.

I think it is because of her ability with descriptions. The first sentence:

"No one saw the girl die."

It's not exactly, "Many years later, as he faced the firing squad . . ." but I thought, "I like this woman. I like how she grabs me right off."

Partly because I have always been a William James fan, impressed with his _Varieties of Religious Experience_ that I grabbed it. I found myself genuinely liking James and admiring his grit.

So let me throw this out. Anyone else read the book? Any responses?

Lynn
