I watched this movie today after reading a lot about the life of Amin's. Forest Whitaker did and awesome job and was definitely worthy of the Oscar nomination. This movie did something though, that nobody warned me about. It actually put a face on terror. It showed that even a tyrant and a man bent on genocide had a human side, and it was thing that made him what he was. It was not fear, though he did have that, it was hate. Plain and simple I think every tyrant in history can be explained by their hatred.

Looking into Amin's life I also discovered many other things about how he became who he was. Like most third world Despots, he was put into power by another country that was interested in his nation due to finance. It is a shame how often we see this in history, starting with the Romans, and even going on today with us in the US, and our friend in Britain.

This makes me wonder, are people like Amin born, or are they created through meddling. How does man rise to power starting as a dishwasher in British military with the obvious mental flaws that he ended life with? Did he always have those flaws or did the pressure of his position create them? It really makes me wonder.
