Okay I asked a techy at the compsci dept if he had any spare ram and he gave me 2 128 sticks and i asked for DDR1 so just to double check.

Spm 128 mo bx
rage168bx128 3v

could i put these in the spare ram slots in my comp I have 4 slots total, 2 being used by 512 433mhz sticks, and 2 spare.

so these 2 sticks would add up to 256 MB, are these worth putting in even to just get a lil' bit extra RAM? I Play BF2 with a mod at lowest possible settings and it takes a hell of a long time to load maps especially at the verifying client data part.

Currently vista + bf2 when in game used around 90% of my ram.

Blayne you might want to check your rear to see if you have any Microsoft related "Ram" issues there.

Why are you running it with Vista?

Because my desktop is the only computer in my house that can play BF2, and also only ocmputer to use Vista, Vista I installed A) Because I needed ot format, B) Because I am God, C) To try it out, D) Because I am a computer Science student and the program will be switching over to vista related programs anyways, and E) because it was free.

I totally thought this was either going to be about farm animals or, like, a car accident or something.

Can't you dual boot Vista with XP?

What's the speed on the 128 sticks?

If it's the same as your existing RAM (433 mhz), you can probably add it without a problem. If it's slower, your system will likely force your existing RAM to operate at whatever clock speed the 128 dimms are, if they're even compatible with your mobo & processor in the first place.

I could but theres only 20 GB left on ym HD, of a 140 GB HD, if I had a 2nd one ild dual boot. But im still job hunting so im seeing if I can make do with free stuff.

I really doubt the RAM will help. It's more likely to slow your whole system down.

Just so you know, I really really doubt anyone ever made 433mhz RAM in DDR1 at 128MB. The fastest standard speed for DDR1 is 400mhz. The only RAM that ever goes faster is high performance stuff. So if you put those sticks in, you're either going to not boot because you're overclocking, or you're going to drop to whatever speed the new RAM runs at (I'm betting closer to 333 or 266mhz). In short, you'd gain RAM, but you'd end up bottlenecking the tar out of your computer.

edit: Looks at the second stick of RAM posted...That's SDRAM. It ain't gonna fit.
