I was meandering around wikipedia during my debate tournament yesterday and found this interesting "personality" identifier, that was developed by Carl Jung.
apparently I am an INTJ, and it said this is 1 percent of the population, and I wondered, does the hatrack population have more or less INTJs than average?

There was a big long thread on this topic a year or two ago (I'm too tired/lazy to dig it up now) where a lot of people posted their results, and from what I recall Hatrack had a much higher percentage of INTJs than the general population.

INFJ: moderately, moderately, strongly, and slightly expressed, respectively.
However, I think I have come up differently on different tests (although I'm always an F.) And some things in the descriptions just didn't quite fit (although some really did.) But my career recommendations were pretty spot-on, and included my "dream career" (if I had a career.)

When I took the "official" one five years ago, I was an INTP. This test tells me I'm an INTJ but the "J" isn't very strong.
I guess it makes sense.

I'm ususally ENFP. About every 5th time I take the test, I come out an ENTP. I've taken the full on Meyers-Briggs 4 times, twice administered by a therapist, once for a behavioral science course my second time through college, and once by a job. I was, in order of receiving the tests, INFP, ENFP, ENTP, ENFP.

Solid INTJ, if that previous comment was correct and we are supposed to be less than 1%, this is indeed curious. I also seem to have a couple more "very" rather than "moderate" traits.

The J doesn't mean you are judgemental. It means you like a planned, orderly structure to your life and make decisions quickly as opposed to leaving as many options open as possible.

My apologies if I've told this on Hatrack before. A few years ago my department at work did the Myers-Briggs analysis and had a workshop. When we broke for lunch, we were told when to return. I hung around in the conference room chatting for a while, then went to lunch and decided to quickly return to my office to check my emails. I lost track of time and then "Oh no! I'm late getting back!" and went rushing back to the conference room.
When I walked in the door, everyone laughed. The Myers-Briggs guy had, during the lunch break, posted his predictions (based on our types) of who would be first and last to return. Yep, I was the last one. I'm such a "P."

I consistently score moderately high on the IN, but fluctuate near the midline on the last two. I think it depends on my mood and the specific questions they ask, but I seem to get FP and TJ somewhat interchangeably.

INFJ and while I do believe these things are for entertainment value only, I'm kind of surprised at how very like me the various descriptions of INFJ are. Of course, they're all worded with a good bit of wiggle room. "They can be demanding but are often indulgent", etc., in other words, they hedge their bets by including opposites in the same description, but it still seems to match uncommonly well.

Tatiana, I happen to find this test really useful in understanding how different personality types operate. We are all contradictory, so I don't worry about the so-called "wiggle room"; the description of an INFP fits me so mind-bogglingly well compared to the other type descriptions that I can't help but think there's something to it (especially after having been really frustrated by career-aptitude tests in college and other analyses that told me a big fat nothing).
My best friend is an ENFP and her husband is an INTJ. She totally doesn't get him after years of marriage, but studying the different types is helping her. YMMV on the various websites and books out there, though. There's one site someone linked to on the previous page called The Personality Page, I think, that I've found to have more helpful type descriptions than most others.
The one other category/typing model that I swear by is The Five Love Languages. That concept really opened up my understanding of causes and solutions for relationship conflicts.

I am an ISFJ. I am always very borderline between N and S, and I am a hardcore J. Used to drive me insane trying to shop with my ex-boyfriend, who was very much a P -- I'd be saying, Look, we've found three shirts that look good, let's buy them and go! and he'd be saying, But what about all the other stores in this mall where there might be EVEN BETTER SHIRTS?

Though I know a few of my answers contradicted some of my other answers. I generally answered with the first thing that I could think of an example for. The problem with that is that I may not have been acting normal in that situation.
I'm guessing that the categories that only won by 1 are close to being 50/50, which I think fitting in my case (J vs P), because on some things, I'm more organized, but on others, I prefer to just go with the flow.

It claims I'm INTJ, but INTP fits me much better. ENTP is closer to where I want to be.
The chart on the wikipedia page showing the population breakdown is interesting. Over 26% of the population are either ISFJ or ESFJ, which is about as diametrically opposite to me as possible. No wonder I feel... unusual.
I wonder if there are any useful correlations between Myers-Briggs types and political leanings. Surely there must be studies out there. Anyone with google-fu?

I am a very strong I and T, but I am pretty close on the N/S and J/F and have even tested as an S at times. In the more indepth study of the personality types, though, I match very strongly with the combined "NT" so I tend to claim the N.

You know that "P" thing I just wrote about above? Oh my goodness, I'm a hopeless case. I just got back from lunch with Olivet. We met at a place and time of my choosing (about 5 minutes away from both of us) and I was 25 minutes late. I was so embarrassed -- I lost my keys and spent most of that time looking for them. The remainder of that time was spent looking for Olivet's number so that I could let her know I was running late. Found the number, but she didn't have her cell with her. When I finally found the keys, I rushed off to the restaurant, certain that any sane person would have left after waiting 15 minutes. She had headed to her car but was incredibly gracious and non-mad-acting about it all! And of course we had fun chatting.

I took this test several years ago from a book called "Please Understand Me II" by David Keirsey. I am an ISTJ, a.k.a. The Inspector. That sounds cool, but the book essentially describes me as bean counter. Though I do find investigation fascinating.
In my opinion, these tests are only slightly less vague than a horoscope. These can lead to some insight into your own personality, but can't possibly account for everything that life throws around.

I've taken tests like this numerous times over the past 30 years and I'm surprised at how consistently I perform. I am ENTP.
This time I came out E 6 so very slighlty extroverted, this is very consistent. If I'm a bit depressed I tend to come out very slightly introverted.
I came out 81 for N. Every time I take this test I come out wildly intuitive.
I score T 1. Everytime I've taken this test I come out virtually tied for Thinking versus feeling.
I scored P 56 which is also very consistent. Actually a bit low.

Wow so I'm really borderline Thinking/Feeling. This is the second time I took the test and the only thing that changed was the T/F part but not by much at all. Although I should take this test again when I'm at work and in a completely different mindset. I'll bet it will turn out quite different.

We took the Briggs-Meyers at work and did a day long workshop learning about the results. Apparently, the middle two have the most work significance.
We NTs (Yes, I'm INTJ, too) like to come up with a big idea. The STs are the detail types we need to figure out how it works. The SFs figure out how it will impact the customers. And I don't quite remember what the NFs were doing - relationship building I think.
I really like the handout we got with all 16 types broken down. I like to figure out what type my characters are when I'm writing.
