Any advice from people who know more about these things? How long do I charge it? Will it try to eat socks? How loud is it going to be?

Advice? This is the easiest appliance in the world. Charge it when you're not using it; pick up loose little items like fringed rugs, socks, or electrical cables. I recommend a second virtual wall, if it didn't come with two.

Now can somebody help me figure out how to cool stuff in my fridge?

Roomba? I swear the idea of buying one of those for my family as a Thank you is increasing in my head ^^;;. How's it working for you so far?

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

I love it.

You bought something for $400 that does the same things I do every day for free??

*I know what this implies, and I'm j/k*

Posted by Icarus (Member # 3162) on :

Um, no. I paid $150 on Woot for it. Which is less than I paid for my last stand-up vacuum.

Cool? Fridge? No problemo.

I almost bought my mom one on woot!

Damn it.

vonk: How on earth did you arrange that deal? Did your days as a spermatid include a radio set to get the order out? [Razz]

Sears regularly has them for between $120 and $150 on sale, too. I don't think you could buy a basic model for $400 if you tried.

Don't worry, I think they'll have it again. [Wink]

-o-

I bought my mother-in-law one on Woot!

Oh, I'm not annoyed--in case it came across that way. Darn internet not conveying tone . . . I was just being sarcastic (but not in a mean way).

I am being so amused just sitting here watching the Roomba do its thing. Go Roomba go!

Isn't it awesome?! It's like a pet! A pet that cleans your floors!

I need a pet that cleans my floors...especially one that doesn't poop!

It's so wonderful! I got my mom one too and she loves it! The cats are all cool with it now. They know that it's not fast enough to bother them and also that they can just get on furniture if they want to avoid it.

It does a really great job!

I recommend cleaning the brushes after every cycle. The nifty little tool makes it easy to do. I have lots of cat hair, though, so petless people may not need to clean the brushes quite so often.

When I first got mine, I watched it to see what sort of things gave it problems. I turned under all the rug fringe I have, and duct taped it to the back of the rug so it won't come back out. I like it better without fringe anyway [Smile]

I absolutely love mine! I recommend them for everyone. [Smile] Just get the basic model, though. Roomba Red is the one I like. All the scheduling extras are more than you need, since you have to empty and clean the thing every cycle anyway.

*nod* I don't have the scheduler. I wish I had a second virtual wall, though, because our downstairs is a very open floorplan. I've got the Roomba Sage.

I don't clean the brushes every cycle. It would probably be better if I did, but then it doesn't seem like such a time/effort saver. So I figure vacuuming the floor much more often is enough of an improvement. I only clean the brushes when I notice a decrease in performance.

What he said. Exactly. (Well, except my entire apartment is "downstairs.")

Notice the clever use of the word "spermatid." ^_^
