Yep, I got really high today.

at firefighting drill I finally got to climb the truck aerial ladder, and man oh man was it way up there. I am a wee bit scared of heights (terrified) and it was an amazing experience.

Just wondering, about all your other experiences that may compare, like skydiving or whatever.

I love indoor rock climbing, but sometimes, when I'm at the very top of the wall, it's pretty freaky how high up you are. Lots of fun though!

I used to work as an instructor on a ropes course. Despite knowing how safe everything was - after all, I'd set up the course - it was always a little frightening attempting the more difficult ones.

We had what was essentially a telephone pole which you could climb. When you got near the top, you'd reach the last, most difficult step: getting to a standing position on the top of the pole by basically jumping from the rungs and hoping you landed properly. It was super wobbly. Then, if you wanted, you'd do a free jump and hope you could reach the trapeze. Being rather short, I never had a chance at doing more than brushing it with my fingertips before falling, but it was fun trying.

That sounds like an enormous amount of fun, Jhai. I'd love to try that.

I went sky diving when I was 18 that was very exciting. I rappelled quite a bit in boy scouts that was also exciting.

I remember doing a high ropes course in boy scouts that was a blast. Chances are I would not have tried something if I thought I might have fallen, even with the safety harness.

When you consider male physiology, and how that harness works, it just didn't seem worth it to me.

No....
We have a ropes course at my school, and the middle school boys always groan and clutch their balls after they fall, like it makes them more manly or something. But all my male friends have assured me that it does not, in fact, hurt.

Skydiving was not scarey because everything was so far away that it was "unreal"... And even as I got closer to the ground for things to become real, it was gradual enough so as not to be shocking or frightening.

So even though I'm terrified of heights, skydiving was a breeze.

(that said, I don't plan on doing it again. It was loud and cold and messed up my hair and, frankly, I find rollercoasters more thrilling)

I highly doubt that this counts as heights or danger but I get a thrill out of riding on the front of a speed boat. I feel like I'm flying, though the water splashing into my face doesn't exactly add to that delusion.
