Okay, this is a little bit different than name that quote, and you all might not even like it, but here is how it goes:

You go to IMDB, look up the movie you want to use, and then pick three or four official Plot Keywords. You put them here and people guess the movies based on the key words. I chose a mix of some pretty easy ones, and a couple older ones. Hopefully we'll like it and it'll add a little variety [Smile]

If no one gets them after a day, I'll post more keywords and we'll take it from there. I'll impose the same three guesses per hour rule that the other game had, so everyone can have a better chance to get a crack at it. Have fun!

1. Rainy Night, Eccentric, Wrench, Butler - Clue, maui babe

2. Prayer, Vigilante, Cat, FBI Investigation - Boondock Saints, Stray

3. Owl, Wizards' Duel, Medieval - Sword in the Stone, erosomniac

4. Father Son Estrangement, Freemason, FBI, Invisible Ink - National Treasure, TheGrimace

5. Rabbit, Catapult, Singing, Dismemberment - MP & The Holy Grail, Dagonee

6. Male Frontal Nudity, Pope, Dominatrix, Brother Sister Relationship - Eurotrip, vonk

7. Potion, Talking Animal, Angel and Devil, Birthday Song - Emperor's New Groove, Brinestone

8. Sister Sister Relationship, Choreography, Ski Resort, General - White Christmas, Amilia

9. Paris, Statue, Forgery, Con Artist - How to Steal a Million, Amilia

10. Nazi, Motorcycle Chase, Book Burning, Library - Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, maui babe

11. Lifeguard, Bus Ride, Guitar, Cookie - Stranger Than Fiction, Brinestone

12. Harlem, Organized Crime, Pizzeria, Music Video - The Last Dragon, Strider

13) Drag racing, slumber party, opposites attract, hair color - Grase, Juxtapose

14) Actor playing multiple roles, happy pill, men in drag, corporate crime - Kids in the Hall Brain Candy, Sterling

maui babe - 2
Amilia - 2
Brinestone - 2
Dag - 1
Stray - 1
eros - 1
The Grimace - 1
Strider - 1
vonk - 1
Juxtapose - 1
Sterling - 1

What the heck, I'll add on the other ones people are tossing out there. Why don't we cut it off at like 15 or so though, that way we could do it in rounds like the other movie guessing game. Sound good?

I added the 11-14 questions to the top, even though I really have no clue as to what the answers are, but I think we should cut it off at 15 or so, so we can do rounds and have people win and carry it on to the next round, like the other movie guessing game.

Or we could just throw them out willy nilly, it's up to you guys.

Interesting game. I had to look them up and I wouldn't have gotten the rest.

BTW: It wasn't very easy to find out how to look these up in the first place.

13 (Jux) and 14 (Sterling) are correct.

7 is The Emperor's New Groove, and 11 is Stranger Than Fiction.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

7, 8 9 are all correct.

And sorry, for anyone who doesn't know, you search the movie on IMDB, open it's page, then it'll give you the genre, and some other details above the cast list. One of the lines says I think "Plot Keywords" and you should be able to click a link at the end of that line that opens a large list of keywords. You choose from those.

Unless Nighthawk meant that it was hard to look up the movies based solely on their keywords, which makes sense, it'd be damned hard. In which case, disregard my second explanation.

Posted by Leonide (Member # 4157) on :

Which ones haven't been guessed? I'm a bit confused.

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

4 were added on to my additional 10. I don't know the answers to them, so we'll have to wait and see from their authors whether or not they are correct. From my original list, number six has not been guessed.

eros, maui and dag will have to tell us if they are correct. Then we can end the round.

Posted by maui babe (Member # 1894) on :

Brinestone is correct about 11.

Posted by Strider (Member # 1807) on :

Sorry about that, I was at work all day and just got a chance to update it.

Three way tie between Amilia, Brinestone and maui babe. A tiebreaker could take forever in this game, so I'm going to say whoever claims it first can do the next round.

I'm surprised some of you were able to look up the answers. I imagine it wouldn't work if you just tried to google it like you can with the movie quotes.

I think it forces your brain to make different connections than just memory retention from movie lines, which makes it different I think, not necessarily harder or better.

The idea behind the rule, I think, is to get as many people as possible involved in the game, and to not let one person run away with it because they happened to come upon the thread first.

well, there's more father-daughter conflict in TTT, but les Pub

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Fellowship strikes me as more likely, with the Prancing Pony being the pub. And I guess the father daughter relationship would be Arwen and Elrond (and in Two Towers it'd probably be Theoden and Eowyn). Magic is obvious for both.

What about the Village though? Does Bree count as a village? Or Hobbiton? Or are they talking about the villages in the Westfold? Could be either.

Posted by Leonide (Member # 4157) on :

Four is not any of the LotR's movies.

And CT, the anvil is a reference to the profession of the salesman who is trying to bring down Harold Hill.

So, how do you search for multiple keywords? Comma just brings up the first keyword for me? Please help! [Confused]

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

You can refine the search. When you first search for a keyword, it'll prompt you with a list of other keywords that you can choose that help you refine the search. Then you keep adding more words until you are left with a dwindling list.

Tiebreaker.

Uh, I say you put up three more sets and whichever of them answers first, or answers the most, wins.

Or one of them can just concede.

But tiebreakers are fun and exciting!

Posted by Feer (Member # 9846) on :

It was the "old-tymer" that helped me get it.

So just to make sure, it is 3 geusses through the whole round right?

Tie breaker, Different rules?

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Nah. Three guesses PER HOUR for each round.

And for the tie-breaker, heck I don't know. Sure, same rules. If none of the people tied for the top can get it, then Leonide can just pick somebody.

No sense in making it too complicated.

(Too late!)

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

I am too busy today to be reliable in checking on guesses, so I gracefully withdraw. [Smile]

Posted by Leonide (Member # 4157) on :

Okay, for the tie-breaker:

1. Dog, Fashion Show, Bear, Mustache - Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Feer

2. Clown, Streaking, Fraternity, Dream Sequence

3. Fiance Fiancee Relationship, Shot in the Butt, Flower Market, Best Friend

these movies all have one bigger common thread, probably more connections that i haven't thought of as well. have at it!

Feer - 1

I got them too. The common thread clue did it for me.

Well crud, I have no idea what the 2nd and 3rd might be.

Two out of Three. Is Feer the winner?

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

I think that would indeed make Feer the winner, but it would be great to see if he can figure out the last one, too.

Posted by Leonide (Member # 4157) on :

Posted by Leonide (Member # 4157) on :

7. Dick Tracy? I have no idea if there's any breaking of the fourth wall in that, though...

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Breaking the fourth wall is a reference to the non-existant fourth wall, you know there's three walls in a room like on a sitcom, and the fourth wall is where the camera and the audience is.

So breaking the fourth wall is when someone talks directly to the camera, or makes a reference to knowing that the show or movie IS a show or movie.

There was a scene once on Fresh Prince of Bell Aire when Carlton is upset because he thinks they don't have enough money and Uncle Phil says:

"My money makes money, relax, we're rich!"

Carlton - "Hey, we are rich!"

Will - "We so rich, how come we ain't got no ceiling?"

Then the camera pans upwards to reveal the set lights.

7 is not dick tracy.

Posted by ClaudiaTherese (Member # 923) on :

I was tapped out, so I used the method mentioned previously in the thread to narrow it down. Couldn't have done it otherwise, as I [didn't see one] of these movies, [and am too dim-witted to remember that I've seen the other twice] [Blushing] .

(Also, might "9. Choking, Father Son Relatioship, School Board, Doctor" actually be "9. Choking, Father Son Estrangement, School Board, Doctor"? I can't make it work otherwise.

Then again, I am not sure I am doing it right, anyway.)

Posted by Lyrhawn (Member # 7039) on :

Shhh! I declare a winner!

Did you guess Field of Dreams fairly or did you look it up? Theoretically if you didn't look it up then it's a tie.

Otherwise yeah Leonide wins.

I'll admit it, I just want someone to post another round!

The two left are the hardest. To recap and add a review quotation:

quote:
1. Elderly, Heist, Death of a Friend, Casino
Late 70s, Art Carney and George Burns, "I can't believe we three guys are really doing this."

It had the original and entertaining premise of three elderly men robbing a bank, not for the money, but for the the chance to escape their tedious routine. But armed robbery is no laughing matter ...

quote:
4. Hitman, Neo Noir, Psychiatrist, Female Nudity
Mid 90s, Mimi Rogers, "I can't believe she really expects me to do this."

Mick [Anthony Lapaglia] is assigned an unusual duty: Killing Fiona (Mimi Rogers), a femme fatale inflicted with a mysteriously incurable disease. Expectedly, as soon as Mick meets his enigmatic victim, who's willing to die, he falls for her. However, Mick is not a standard fall guy; his love for Fiona turns out to be a transformative redemptive act.

It's one of my favorite movies of all times. There are so many great quotes in the movie.

"Brothers don't shake hands. Brothers gotta hug!"

"Fat guy in a little coat."

:when the door falls of the car:
"What'd you do?!?!"

"Who's your favorite Little Rascal? Alfalfa or Spanky? Sinner."

"It doesn't hurt so much here or here, just here." :see huge bruise on face:

What a great movie.
