What did you do while the hatrack forums were down?

As for myself, I watched much more television as I was not glued to my computer, which may or may not be a good thing. Went on one or two dates with my wife I otherwise might not have as the increased television watching started to annoy me.

So no hatrack--->more time watching TV---->more dates with wife.

no hatrack = happier spouse [Wink]

If you did not do anything markedly different while the forums were down, did you feel withdrawal without the forums around? I confess I checked hatrack at least once sometimes twice a day.

I lurked on Galactic Cactus, joined Not Nauvoo (Nauvoo is still down, those of us missing it are still hanging out on Not Nauvoo), and spent more time at my normal "other" forums. [Smile]

(I also taught my Saturday preschool art class, threw a birthday party for my girls, did some cleaning, and made a bunch of money on eBay. [Smile] )

Galactic Cactus. It's a lovely place. [Smile]

I also played more Spider Solitaire.

What is this "Not Nauvoo" forum of which you speak? Google doesn't bring it up.

Other forums mostly.

(Oh, and I forgot to mention I went to the doctor and got some stuff you don't want to hear about taken care of, and also played a heck of a lot of games on king.com.)

I kept checking Hatrack to see if it was back.

No.

Seriously.

I'm not kidding.

Okay, I also spent way more time on google news wondering why surfing the web just wasn't as interesting as before....

[The Wave]

But now Hatrack is back!

Hatrack was down? When was this?

I actually got more work done. Go figure.

I've missed it here though. I'm far too lazy to search the web for interesting stuff. I'd rather let y'all do it for me. [Wink]

Seriously though, it's good to have this back.

I used the same forums I always use except this one, and studied for finals more than I might have otherwise. But really, while i noticed, i didn't do the shaking thing at all this time.

I also went on alternative forums. (Well, actually, Hatrack sort of is my alternative forum as I first found this place when my main forum was slow.)

And I wrote a play.

And I called my Mum.

And I earned some money and spend it and earned some more money and spent that too and now I am broke again.

Stupid money. It should learn how to stick to my fingers.

I hung out on the bloggernacle (Times and Seasons, By Common Consent, Mormon Stories, Feminist Mormon Housewives, etc.) and I watched two of Richard Dutcher's movies "States of Grace" and "God's Army". I thought they were wonderful movies! I'm going to see if we have old threads about them to post on.

Read. A lot. I'm halfway through A Song of Ice and Fire now.

I certainly didn't get any additional work done. I have a big test coming up on the 19th which I haven't even started studying for. *shrugs*

I spent a bit of time on Sake, and an even smaller bit on GC, but mostly I spent all my time writing, since my cable and internet has been intermittant for the past few days anyway (it's working for the moment, and I'll enjoy it while it lasts).

I haven't written more than a page or two in the last couple months, but I got almost 10 pages done over last weekend. I loves my Hatrack, but the absence of same seems to do wonders for my productivity.

I studied for finals. My last two are tomorrow.

So that says something, that I checked to see if Hatrack was back even though I should still be studying.

After my clicky finger went numb from refreshing "Today's Active Topics", I desultorily lurked at sakeriver and Galactic Cactus. I did a woefully incomplete spring cleaning. And stressed out about various topics, with nowhere to vent! [Wall Bash]

edit: Oh, and I thought about emailing various jatraquero friends, but didn't have the energy. Sorry. [Blushing]

I got a cold and sprained my ankle. And I don't know how I did the last. Seriously, I got out of bed and my ankle was in extreme pain. It makes no sense.

And I blame Hatrack.

Other than that, however, I got some work done, spent some time outside, studied for my exam, and was writing my paper. That's not going to happen now though. Oh no. Hatrack is back.

My stars. Doc, is she okay? Are you okay?

Posted by docmagik (Member # 1131) on :

She's doing really well.

Here's the story, in brief:

About ten years ago, around when we were dating, she got rheumatic fever. It was misdiagnosed for about a year and a half as Chronic Fatigue, and during that time, her mitral valve was eaten by her own white blood cells.

So we got a pig valve put in to replace it. We knew it would only last a few years, but it was easier to have kids with a bio valve than a mechanical valve because you don't have the complications of coumadin.

Well, in the last couple of months that valve went very suddenly and we had to replace it.

Last time we did this, she'd had the two years of rheumatic fever before the surgery, and had never been weaker in her life. This time, she'd been exercising fairly regularly up until about two months ago. So it's actually going a lot better than last time.

She's pretty much doing everything they ask her to do. The only thing left that might keep her there is something that's not physically in her control, and that's how quickly they can get her blood levels under control with the coumadin.

So we couldn't be happier with her progress. We expect to have her home by Saturday.

...she doesn't by any chance hang out on the BabyCenter Latter-day Saints Families board, does she?

I was at Sake, and staying up ridiculously late doing absolutely nothing instead of studying for finals and writing a paper. Which is also what I should be doing now.

Doc, I'm glad to hear your wife seems to be doing well. That's a scary mis-diagnosis!

I had been spending less time on my computer anyway because the continuously increasing amount of daylight beckoned me to do other things. I feel like I would be wasting time if I was on the internet while a bright sun was still out at 8:30. I didn't find out until a few days ago that the forum was down. How long was it down?

I finished my two bowling leagues, worked a lot of overtime, did a few things with my friends, and visited a golf course for the first time with them. I was awful, by the way. No "beginners luck" there.

Tomorrow (Saturday), I'll be cleaning the house, finding a resume writing service, and possibly be buying tickets to a Cleveland Indians game for my upcoming vacation.

Just wanted to let everybody know Mrs. Magik is back home and doing fine.

And tells me she doesn't hang out on any boards. But I've seen her mailbox and I know she does some mailing lists.

But that is a common story for people who went to BYU at a certain time. Lot of them got misdiagnosed with CFS. I'm not one of the people who doesn't believe in CFS, but I do think it's diagnosed way more often than it should be, at lots of hospitals.

It was pretty bad. Hatrack was down, Ornery down, Nauvoo down, heck even the enemy's gate was down.

I stayed up late at nights with Sake.
